The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is my dream school. I absolutely fell in love with every aspect of this college and would be devastated if I do not get in. I have been stressing out about my chances to actually get in for a while now. If someone could please chance me, it would be greatly appreciated. I have already sent in my application for early action.

I consider my essays to be extremely strong (probably 9.7/10). I have tried to bring my ACT score but once I took it again, I went down to a 27. I just have an issue with over analyzing the content, which leads to me running out of time. I have also submitted an application to NC State and I am working on a few other schools in NC now.
You’re on the low end for their average ACT but I think you have a good chance. You have a good rank, GPA, and ECs, I think they’ll take you. You’re ACT isn’t horrific and, after checking their scores, it says they usually accept between 28-33.
@andrewmcdona My school does not have grade inflation. My class is just extremely competitive and we’re all in the academy. The leaders of the other classes have multiple Bs. I’m not sure if you meant that or if you’re asking how the weighted GPA is scaled. I’ve had some close calls with getting Bs in some other AP classes but studied my butt off. Class rank is by weighted GPA, so there are students with a lower unweighted GPA than me but have taken more AP classes that are ahead of me.
@andrewmcdona I see what you mean. I’m an outlier when it comes to my ACT and rank. Everyone ahead of me is well into the 30s. I struggle with the time constraints of the test and end up having to just fill in the remaining bubbles to complete it, especially on the science portion. I’ve never been one for fast paced, timed standardized tests.
@andrewmcdona I take the SAT on December 5th. I’ve been doing a lot of practice exams on an app I have downloaded. Do you know of any other resources that have positive results that I can use to study? It will not matter for UNC-CH since I’ve already sent my application but it will for my others schools that aren’t due until Jan.
Yes the college board releases official tests into a book you should get that and practice. It’s the best way. Also use SAT vocal on quizlet. I improved my score from 1890 to 2180.
@Kellywonka If you look at the UNC website they say that your test scores won’t make or break your application. So I wouldn’t worry too much. Obviously you should try really hard to get above a 2000 on the SAT when you take it, then I think you’ll have a good shot. The fact that you are an african american female should give you an advantage. And if you are that passionate about the school, and conveyed it in your essays, you have a good chance of getting in.
