Chance me for UPenn ED and UChicago EA!

So yeah, I made a chance topic awhile back but I'm redoing it. FYI I've already applied to Penn CAS ED and am planning to send in my Chicago EA app as soon as I finish these essays. Here's my "stats":

Asian male senior, coming from a high school of under 800 total students, with 186 kids in my grade. This is located in very very northern Wisconsin, almost in the UP lol.

3.973 cumulative unweighted GPA.

Class rank: 3rd out of 177 (unweighted ranking).

Have basically taken the hardest course load available at my school, including most every AP available.

AP scores: 4 Bio, 5 Lang, 5 US Gov, 5 Calc AB. Am taking Psych, Lit, Spanish Lang, and Stats this year.

ACT: 35 composite -- 36 reading, 35 math, 35 English, 35 science. 10 essay.

SAT: 2270 composite -- 730 reading, 750 math, 790 writing. 9 essay.

SAT II: 780 math 2 & literature.

233 PSAT and NMSF.

AP Scholar with Distinction.

My EC's:

Gold medal (perfect score) at state forensics two years in a row. Got a silver medal my freshman year and am participating again this year.

I also spearheaded the first sophomore Model UN trip at our school and was basically the founder of that (just for sophomores) and also went to the Model UN conference as a junior and am going this year too.

I've participated in many clubs for all four years, including Math League, Forensics, Teen Court (an alternative to the traditional court system for first-time teen offenders) and Mock Trial. I'm a captain in all of these AFAIK.

In the Math League, I was first in the state as a freshman, second as a sophomore, and fourth as a junior (I was in a harder category in 10th/11th grade than I was in 9th).

For Mock Trial, I was part of the team that went to state my freshman year and placed 7th out of 12 teams.

I've been fairly active in music, participating in all of the bands my school has to offer (concert, jazz, pep, and pit) and also participating in Solo/Ensemble and receiving 1's (perfect score) at state for piano and saxophone my sophomore year and piano my junior year. I received a 2 at state for sax my freshman/junior years. Also received an award for Outstanding Musicianship at the UWSP Jazz Festival. Also I've volunteered as a member of the local community band since 8th grade.

I've played soccer for all four years and was JV captain and offensive MVP my junior year, and JV captain this year. I played tennis freshman and sophomore year and plan to play again this year.

I've been in NHS since junior year.

In the summer I've volunteered at the Dandelion School English Summer Camp in Beijing for two consecutive years, where I stay for 10 days at a summer camp in relatively poor conditions, teaching English as a volunteer teacher to Chinese migrant middle school children who are generally from rather low-income families in China.

As for essays/recs, I think they should be good but I'm not really one to judge :P For what it's worth my essays have all been read and revised many times by several people.

Anyways, please chance me for UPenn CAS ED and UChicago EA. Thanks!

Wait! how can you do ED and EA??

You can do both ED and EA as long as you realize that if you get into both, you’re going to your ED school no matter what.

To OP: your application looks awesome. I’d say you’re a really really great applicant for Penn ED, I don’t know about UChicago. You seem like a cool person, and that’s the best feeling anyone can get from an application!

Thanks for the replies and the vote of confidence! I really really hope I get into Penn haha honestly I doubt that I can get into Chicago if I’m rejected from Penn ED but might as well apply EA since I’m allowed to! :)

Oh and just for what it’s worth, my essays in a nutshell:

Common App (failure prompt): I talk about never making varsity soccer throughout my whole high school career. Basically a story about that and learning about how to deal with frustration and more.

Penn essay: Kind of weird. I talk mostly about myself in this one; how I was born in NY, moved to Wisconsin at 4, and have strong ties to China in addition. How growing up in my community has given me a unique perspective and how going to Penn gives me the chance to “get out” and into a totally different environment.
