Chance me for Urbana-Champaign Engineering

Okay well, I live in California and after talking to college professors at the local university here (UC Davis), I've learned that the college of engineering at Urbana-Champaign is fantastic. I was just wondering what my chances are... Any input would be appreciated.

GPA: 4.0 unweighted/ ~4.6 weighted
SAT: 2160 (770 math)
SAT II (I know these aren't very important at Illinois): Math II - 800, Biology M - 800, Physics - 750

Class Rank: My school doesn't calculate exact class rank, but my GPA guarantees me Eligibility in Local Context for the University of California, which means that I'm at least in the top 4% of about 600 students in my class. (I go to a pretty competitive public school that regularly sends about 20 students to Berkeley and about 15 to Stanford and the Ivy Leagues each year)

Honors and AP classes (A's in all classes):

Sophomore: English Hon., Spanish 4 Hon., Chemistry AP(5 on AP)

Junior: American Lit Hon., Spanish 5 AP, Biology AP (5 on AP), Calculus AB AP (5 on AP), Physics Honors, two US history classes at community college over the summer that are considered to be rigorous

Senior: Currently enrolled in Physics AP, Calculus BC AP, English Comp/Lit AP, and Microeconomics AP (Macroeconomics 2nd semester)

Extracurriculars:
Symphonic Band - 4 years, Pep Band - 3 years,
National Honor Society, Key Club, California Scholarship Federation (Community service)
I tutor elementary school kids in math regularly as well as high school students in chemistry, physics, biology, and math as part of Math and Science Tutors Club.
No real leadership.

My essays should be quite good, as writing is one of my best subjects.

Thanks for any help. Also, does it affect my application negatively that I might not be able to apply during the priority filing period? I have too many other applications I need to finish up.

They suggest for you to get it done by priority date, so it definately may help. Plus all they require along with application is test score and transcripts.

I think you have a good chance of admission into eng.

Thanks. I’ll see what I can do about finishing my application as early as possible.

I had a friend with worse gpa, about equal test score (converted from ACT), and weaker ECs get accepted to engineering. He was in-state, though, so I’m not sure how that plays in. You look like a strong applicant.

Very good chance, note they evaluate OOS on same basis as in-state so no disadvantage. SAT II are not only unimportant, they are not used at all for admission (those who make admission decisons don’t even see SAT II scores even if you send them). Always recommended that you apply by priority date (and that means sending everything needed by Nov 1, not just app but test scores and transcript also), although with engineering that at best creates only a slight advantage since the engineering college tends to defer a lot of decisons until all apps are in after January.

Also be aware that there have been many a student from warmer climates such as California who have decided after a year at Illinois to return to their home state – the winters in Illinois are brutal.
