I'm an international student studying in California CC. My major is business admin and I'm planning to transfer to BU, BC and also NYU. Can you tell me how's my chance to get into these colleges?

Weighted GPA : 3.49
Units taken : 40
Pre-req for major : micro & macro econ, financial and managerial accounting, business, and calculus

EC : Captain of my high school soccer team, decent badminton player who participated few small competitions in my country

Work experience : worked in a premier pension service firm before

High school GPA around 3

I have a very good essay and also a good recommendation from my favourite teacher.

I'm international student, and I'm prepared to pay the tuition fees.

From community college? Check the school’s policy. Those schools all require standardized tests for admission. If you are applying as a transfer, it MIGHT be different, but almost all schools will still require those tests.

I am pretty sure you need to take SAT/ACT even when transferring from CC. Study hard, do multiple practice tests and aim for a score high enough to compensate for your grades. Also, can you take up a part time job with a finance/biz component? If you are able to get a good rec from a finance/biz job, that would amplify your chances too. good luck.

Your advisor likely said that there was no need to take the standardized tests because she probably assumed you had already taken them as a high school student. There’s no need to take /additional/ standardized tests.

They still consider SAT even I have 60 semester units in community college? Okay I’ll check it out with my advisor tomorrow, thanks for both of your help anyway! Appreciated

I’ve spoken this subject with my lazy advisor and she said " Only Stanford wants to see your SAT or ACT scores. Another universities do not required SAT or ACT, because you’ve got 60 credits with English A1"…

I am international student too in CCC and when I finish my 60 credits, I will apply some ca schools such as UCB, UCLA, USC and out of state schools like UWashington, NYU, Columbia, Brown. If our advisors do not know their general requirements, why they are working in the schools ?

Hi bro, the advisor in my CCC wasn’t very sure about the requirement of out of state colleges, she told me to look for it through the website but some of the website of the schools did not mention it really clearly for international transfer. I’ll have 40 units by the time I apply, and about 56 by the end of spring, and transfer for fall semester. Do you think I need to take SAT?
