bump…

Can someone just chance me. Im checking this thing every day

i cant say i know for sure.
i applied EA for chem engineering and got deferred. i was kinda surprised.
710 CR, 770 Math, 760 Writing
800 math II, 670 chem (coulda done better on chem)
3.42 unweighted gpa, my school doesnt weight or rank, but my gpa has only increased the last 2 years. ive taken the hardest classes my school has except for AP US History and AP Bio so i have a legit courseload.
and my ec’s were the same as yours, probably better tho, lol im catholic too.
i know my essay was good, but my nova supp mighta been average.

everyone says that nova is more selective during EA then during regular so idk we’ll see. good luck

comba: You seem eager for a response so I will give you one. You have a shot at each of these schools but I would say they are both slight reaches for you. I am not sure what a 90.37 GPA translates to on a 4.0 scale. Your critical reading scores are obviously below average for these schools but this probably won’t be a deal breaker since you are interested in engineering and it is not uncommon for engineers to have somewhat lower CR scores. Your math score is good and should keep you in the running.

Class rank is an important factor. If you are in the top 10% of your high school class you have a very good shot. If you are below the top 25% you have very little chance of acceptance since more selective schools don’t like to accept kids outside of the top 25% (it looks bad in US News - so in the difference between the 75th percentile (i.e. top 25 percent) and the 74th percentile (top 26%) makes a huge difference for reporting purposes. Between top 10% and top 25% it could go either way depending on your recommendations and essay as well as the strength of other applicants.

Chance of admission: (both are close in admission criteria so I don’t differentiate)

If in the top 10% of highschool class - 70%
If between the top 10% and 25% of highschool class: 40%
If below the top 25%: 15%

Sandbag: You have very good scores and will be admitted RD - take it to the bank!

thanks a lot. happy new years

bbbbbbbbbbbbump
