Chance me for Yale/Georgetown/Harvard/UChicago?

Hi! My stats aren’t the greatest but I’m just wondering if I even have a chance at my dream schools? Any advice greatly appreciated!

I’m a white female from the Midwest, from a relatively well-off area, and a highly ranked school for my state. I have a 5.103 weighted GPA and a 1420 SAT (750 RW, 670 M), which I know is low for the schools I’m applying to. I have a 31 ACT, with reading and writing scores of 35 and 36 but again, low math and science. 7 AP’s total, 5 this year and only 1 freshman and sophomore year(school only allows one each year). My GPA should also improve a bit after first semester.

I’m planning to major in Political Science and Public Policy, and plan to pursue a career in Government.

My best EC is that I studied abroad my junior year on a full scholarship from the State Department for 11 months in a developing country. I didn’t have the best circumstances, but I really learned a lot and wrote my common app essay about how the experience challenged me and improved my self-awareness.

Other ECs are figure skating (13 years), JV cross country and track, some community service, volunteer club, volunteer with study abroad chapter in my area, National English and Spanish Honor Societies

LOR’s from teachers probably aren’t the strongest, considering one is from my APUSH teacher who has only known me for a quarter (senior year) and a freshman year teacher. Counselor letter is probably a lot stronger.

I do feel that being gone junior year put me at a disadvantage on terms of leadership positions in my clubs, but I’m hoping my experience abroad makes up for it? I’m mostly worried about my SAT scores. I’m planning to take December subject tests and the December ACT one last time, but I’m worried about not improving the math. Do you think I have a chance with a 1420?

What is your unweighted GPA? Where does it place you relative to your classmates?

Your chances are probably about what you’d expect for someone with 25th percentile SAT scores at schools with single digit (Yale, Harvard, Chicago) acceptance rate.

Make sure you also apply to a significant number of schools with higher acceptance rates where your stats put you in the 75th percentile or better.
