It doesn’t matter how perfect your scores or how polished your resume looks. Yale rejects 96% of the applicants they get. You’re as strong as any application they have, but unfortunately, that’s not saying much. Just apply and see what happens.

Congratulations on your many accomplishments. You certainly appear to be strong enough to pass the first hurdle for Yale (or any college). The rest will be up to things we can’t see like your recommendations, your essay, how your application strikes the admission officer etc. With an admission rate of well under 10% Yale must be considered a reach for any unhooked applicant, yourself included.

By all means apply to some top colleges and give it your all. But please be sure to also find some match and safety schools that appear affordable (run net price calculators) and that you would be excited to attend.

^^Of course if you are being recruited for gymnastics at Yale that is a big plus – you did not mention if that is the case.

Just looking at stats and ec, you are a very strong canditate. Great essays will clinch it.

On the off chance that anyone sees this in the future, I was deferred and then rejected from Yale. After being deferred I sent a LOCI, but to no avail. Good luck future Yale applicants!
For context, I was accepted to GT, Cornell, Hopkins
Rejected from Yale and Duke

Thank you for your update. Much appreciated. I’m sorry you were not accepted but congrats on some really great school choices! Where will you be attending, if you don’t mind me asking?
(I have a S21 and he is just starting the process more in earnest.)

Thank you! I will be attending Cornell. Good luck with the process!! @123Mom123
