You will likely need to recalculate your GPA on a 4 point scale to allow an easier comparison. In fact you can go to ga tech’s application on line to see how they convert. It will be important to judge your grade point in the context of your high school. Do the grades on your transcript add the extra points for honors or are they unweighted?

Don’t know if that was helpful but you test scores are good so far .

My school grade both weighted and unweighted, but for 85-89% is a 3.5 GPA, compere to Georgia where 80-89% is a 3.0 GPA. So I don’t know how to calculate.

In my opinion your chances are less than you may think. Universities do not just look at your academic record. They do take serious consideration in making an admission decision however your extracurricular activities are/or can be equally important. Your volunteer hours are impressive however they may just reflect the fact that you want to go into the medical field.

PLEASE consider taking on extracurricular activities. I am unaware of what you like but it is imperative that you involve yourself in some aspect of activity. What do you like to do? What does your school offer with extracurricular activities?

Keep your AP/honors count up and try to push up your GPA a bit to around 93%+ and you’ll be in at all of those schools. You’ll probably be accepted to UGA and GSU just by keeping AP counts up. I know a girl who didn’t do any extracurriculars except orchestra (which was an elective class) and got into GT based on academics–she took about seven or eight AP classes and around 10 honors classes. However, more extracurriculars cannot hurt.

my kid was accepted to GaTech ( we’re OOS so our kid’s stats had to be even higher because of that )…but we will be staying in state at a top ranking university…GaTech is a great college to apply to!
GATech add in 0.5 to GPA all AP & IB classes & consider Magnet school classes as rigorous too. They ‘re-calculate’ the applicants GPA so the more AP / IB classes you’ve, the more ‘different’ your gpa will look like once they re-calculate them.
They don’t require essay ( i think) & only need a ‘self reported’ grades for 12th grade.
I am not sure how much weight they put on EC/activities/clubs/volunteer work etc.

GSU require a slightly lower SAT/gpa etc but w/ the sheer amount of IS students applying, their acceptance rate is 40%. I graduated from GSU & also got into UGA a zillion years ago & i think both of these large colleges are getting MORE apps these days & their requirements are higher than before.

But I think you have a chance at GSU & UGA…
your SAT II scores are very HIGH …congrats!
you’ll do well on your SAT .

so do try your best since you still have time!
