Im also hispanic

I also know i can write a great essay. The struggles my grandfather went through to get here would make a great essay also Ive read almost everything there is on Notre Dame since i was a little kid and really have a love for the school and the campus.

Please tell me how Im looking so far and please tell me what would boost my chances

You’re ECs are pretty good, I would try to raise your GPA some and also SAT. It would really help if you could get those up a bit but URM will help and your ECs are great! Good luck!

You look pretty good! I would say you have a good chance. I would try to boost test scores by taking them a few times and maybe try the ACT. Write good essays with a lot of thought. Good luck!

Also how many is a good amount of letters of recommendation? Ik as much as possible but whats a good number to shoot for as i start to consider who im going to have write them?

I just got admitted EA and I sent in a counselor rec and 2 teacher reccs through the Common App

I thought they only asked for a counselor rec and a single teacher rec? That’s what I submitted and I got in EA as well. :)

what about like a non teacher app. Like from an employer or like a EC supervisor, are those accepted on top of teacher and counselor recommendations?

non teacher rec*

You are in great shape! Two things – do you have a personal passion/interest not apparent here? What do you want to do? Also, figure out regional contact. Meet them, email them, make sure they understand your interest. Grades and scores look great.

any other opinions or ideas? i would really appreciate it

Personally, I wouldn’t send in any extra letters of rec. When we were at the info session at ND (albeit two years ago), both admissions officers who spoke were very clear that they only wanted ONE teacher rec, and the required GC rec. Someone asked about using outside people for recs and they said something along the lines of - you should be able to show/tell us in your essays what kind of person you are, and coupled with a good teacher rec, that should be enough. It can be suspect if you feel you need to have extra recommendations, not to mention it makes it seem that you can’t follow directions.
My S is a freshman there this year - only sent the one teacher rec - and didn’t even know who the regional rep was. Your best bet is to practice a little more for the SAT and take it again the fall of your senior year to try to increase your scores. The rest of your app looks great. Also, please remember, in any given year, they may have enough of/need more of a specific type of student. So even great scores, recs and EC’s may not be enough. Don’t take it as a personal rejection - and make sure you have a few other schools on your list of applications where you’d be happy to attend.
Good luck.

Murphy600 and hsmom2dncrs have given you great advice. I also have a First Year Studies son @ ND and remember the admission officers being EXTREMELY clear that would like applicants to follow their application instructions.

Try to bump up your SAT score a bit; perhaps try the ACT as well. I would also encourage you to focus your essays on YOU;not your grandfather. The admissions officers want to get to know you; not other members of your family.
Good luck!

Your extracurriculars are awesome! Raise your GPA and SAT scores, though. Good luck!

I do not know if anyone has any knowledge about this but other schools ive liked(not as much as notre dame)are unc chapel hill (OOS) and wake forest, what are my chances for those

I would suggest asking about UNCCH and Wake Forrest on their own Forums because most people here looking on the ND forum do not have as much knowledge as those on each of the schools respective forums and you will get a better estimate from them
