I didn’t plan out my hs life to apply to college so I’m feeling particularly panicked. Please let me know what you think my chances are as a polisci major at American University, Brandeis University (EDII), Bryn Mawr College, Dickinson College, Mount Holyoke College, Smith College, The George Washington University, University of Massachusetts Amherst, and Wesleyan University. Thanks!
Stats:
SAT I/ACT/SAT II: not submitting
GPA (out of 4.0): 3.62 UW, ~3.97 W (school doesn’t calculate)
APs: AP Lang (5), AP Micro (3), also took a PSY CC
Senior Year Course Load:
-1st Semester: AP Stats, APUSH, SWG CC, Internship
-2nd Semester: AP Lit, APUSH, GOV CC, AP French
Awards: Honor Roll, NHS, and AMC12 participation (these are all very unimpressive ik)
Extracurriculars:
Lots of political involvement and social justice work (e.g. Democrats and feminist clubs w/ leadership, MFOL leadership which developed into a nonprofit, campaign volunteerment, legislative internship, nonprofit internships, etc.)
Other:
Recs: APUSH and AP Stats teachers will likely talk more about political leadership than academics, not sure what my counselor will say but medical stuff for 2 years so that may account for my GPA some, additional rec from my State-Rep. should be excellent (very involved in helping her win and now intern for her)
Weaknesses: need $$$, 2 internships on my transcript, stats
Strengths: essay on overcoming fears but also political as heck, ECs imo
Hooks: first gen, technically URM sorta
