Schools I’m applying to:
(I’m not asking for aid at any schools even though I’m taking out loans)
Stanford, Brown, Duke, Vanderbilt, UC Berekely, University of Michigan, Georgia Tech, Northwestern, Boston University, NYU, Northeastern, UCLA, UIUC, UCSD, UCSB, UCI, UMass Amherst, Wellesley

What are my chances?
(Also, any safeties that would be fit for my profile since most of these schools are uber-competitive? It would mean a lot to me if you could help me out in the comments)
(At many, my major’s are computer science related but with a focus on art related majors like Computational Media etc)

You have very good stats, and if you’re not asking for financial aid, you have a good chance at UCI, UCSB, UCSD, UMass, Northeastern and Georgia Tech. Your chances aren’t good for Stanford, Duke, Vanderbilt or Brown – not because you’re a bad candidate, but because these schools are a reach for everyone, especially international students.

BTW, have you discussed with your family the financial reprecussions of taking out a loan for close to third of a million dollars? Does that make sense for an undergraduate degree? No one in the US would get that kind of undergraduate loan without a solid co-signer. And everyone here would discourage them from doing it.

I’m also an international student. Your toefl is good, but SAT is too low for schools like UCLA, Berkeley, Michigan, Northwestern, Brown, Duke, Vanderbilt, Stanford. Any major related with computer science is very hard to get in these days, my classmate with 1560 SAT and 3.8 GPA(unweighted) was rejected ED from Northeastern, which shouldn’t be that competitive if he applied to any other major. I have no idea how to evaluate your gpa, but a 1490 does not stand you out for the ivy and ivy plus schools in the top 30 rank.

Sorry for sounding so harsh, it’s just application is getting really hard, especially for international students^

For best chance, apply ED to the schools you have mentioned.
