I’m an international student. I’m going ro applied to University of Richmond; Washington and Lee for ED1. I’ve got 1430 SAT; 7,5 IELTS; 3.6 GPA. I’m a powerful captain of basketball varsity. My effort has lead the varsity to semi-final for the first time. Also the number of varsity female members increased significantly through both face-to-face effective conversations and online channels. It’s so greatful as girls are considered feminine in our country. They are not encouraged to play sport despite varieties benefits it brings. I’m co-founder of a project that build houses for ethnic minorities and war victims. I also teach children to protect environment… Our family can contribute $20.000/y.
Pls chance me.
Just to be clear, you are planning to apply to W&L ED1 and apply regular decision to URichmond, right? b/c you can only apply to 1 place ED.
Your SAT scores are fine for both places, but both are need-aware for admissions, and both schools have a below average % of international students (way below for W&L- 4%). Neither are especially sporty colleges. Put that together and I would think you would have better opportunities for success elsewhere.
One thing about your family contribution: remember that colleges that promise to meet full-need still get to define what the need is- which is often different than what the family feels it is.
Thanks for your prompt advice. I’m planning to apply to U Richmond as ED1. Earlier, my first plan is W&L, but it’s little reach.
Now it’s clearer for me about both uni as well as financiad aid.
You need to apply to some schools that have clear merit scholarship requirements. I can think:
Clark University
U of Alabama (though if you are an Asian, you may feel lonely.)
U of Alabama -Huntsville . Great choice if youare into engineering.
Howard University
Lousiana State University
Liberal Art Colleges that are heavily invested in diversity
Kenyon College
Mount Holyoke is a good fit for females.
I’m an Asian. I’ll try for Mount Holyoke. Thanks for your advice.
