Reaches are Harvard, Columbia, Princeton. Rest are Brown, Northwestern, Cornell, U Penn. Safeties are state schools

Brown, Cornell, Penn, NW are high matches to low reaches. HCP are reaches. But, It wouldn’t be weird even if you get accepted to more than 4 of the schools you are applying for. You have to realize. There are a lot of 2300+, 4.0 who are applying to same schools as you are. Especially if you are wishing to major in bio, the competition is severe. Then, only way to make a difference is EC and essay. Since EC is too late, you have to spend remaining 13 days reinforcing your essay.

@njsternie1 so basically so many people with the same stats trying to get in the same school that I might be accepted or rejected by all of them?

@randomsguy Yeah, that’s kinda the terrible part of the Ivy League. Too many good applicants and not enough spots. Work hard on essays, have some safety schools lined up.

Your safeties and other private schools may provide you with a better experience, and many do not discriminate against Asian-Americans . Asian families are far too Ivy focused - look at southern and western schools for a more rounded pool. I’m not sure that it makes sense because other schools are far better at engineering and sciences.

Any schools with admission rates in teens would be reaches for anyone. They simply have many more qualified students than they can ever accept. NW and the lower Ivies could be low reach for OP though.

This thread is starting to get silly - this is an extraordinarily well qualified applicant. In terms of objective stats, he would make the top 1/4 at any of the schools he is applying to.

He’s not guaranteed admission based on that, but it would be something of an upset if he didn’t get into more than one of the schools he listed.

@NickFlynn Thanks, I needed that. I’ve felt a little down since I was deferred and have an irrational fear of not getting in anywhere. My line of thinking kept going: “I didn’t get in EA. EA rates are much higher than Rd chances. Therefore I’m not gonna make it to HYP. The rest of the ivies save Cornell are high reaches now. I’ll end up somewhere that is a lot lower than where I aimed”
