Chance me: Non traditional junior transfer

I’m an early entrance student, so I’m 16 and will turn 17 in my junior year. No negative comments on my age/missing the high school experience/etc please, I guarantee i’ve heard them all already. I’m a full time early entrance student at MBU PEG, not dual enrolled. I do not have a high school diploma but I have already discussed with admissions departments to receive exemptions due to my circumstance.

By the way, anyone have suggestions on good colleges with good transfer rates that don’t need high school transcripts?

Transfers by major | University of California may help you with respect to UCs.

For junior transfers entering fall 2020 in psychology at UCSD, the admit GPA range* was 3.41-3.89, and the enroll GPA range* was 3.25-3.72, with an admission rate of 55% and a yield rate of 31%.

*25th and 75th percentile prior college GPAs of admits and matriculants.

Are all of the colleges on your list affordable? Also check whether they want both parents’ finances for calculating financial aid. It looks like Emory and CWRU do.

I’ve tried all their financial aid calculators and they’ve been great  definitely affordable if all goes well.

A hook is something that the university needs and is specific:
Recruited Athlete
URM-Underrepresented Minority
Legacy
Celebrity status
Donor Status

I don’t think your safeties are really safeties because you are a nonresident, and those are public schools.
I don’t know about the other schools.

UCSD probably isn’t a match. It will be tough.
Did you meet their A-G requirements, specifically the F requirement? Without a HS diploma from a California HS, I don’t think you will fare well when compared with other transfer students from the State.
The psych program is impacted. @Gumbymom would have more information on that.
Also, housing is impacted, tough and expensive, unless you are you a local resident?

It sounds like your current university program is working for you. The colleges will want to know why you are transferring if you are being successful in your current program.

So you are currently a college student enrolled at Mary Baldwin and will have a 60 semester/90 quarter units completed by end of Spring 2022? Will you also meet the UCSD course requirements for transfer? Be aware that UCSD does not have an articulation agreement with OOS universities, so some courses may not transfer to meet the minimum transfer requirements.

You get low priority for the UC’s as a transfer from OOS even if you are a CA resident.

All UC’s and Cal states do not require a HS transcripts to apply if you are a Junior level transfer so if you get in-state tuition, then it might be worth applying to a few more UC’s or CSU’s besides UCSD. However, the UC’s and CSU’s can ask for HS transcripts and proof of graduation or GED so be prepared.

Best of luck.

I am a california resident. I live about 5 minutes away from UCSD so housing wouldn’t be a problem. I meet all of their transfer requirements
