Chance me on any of the Ivy Leagues + other top schools?

<p>Probably going to hurt my self-esteem doing this -_- haha</p>

<p>Asian female soph (c/o 2012!) @ a large public school in SoCal. Not a very high-ranked school at all. </p>

<p>Rank: 1 out of a class of 686
Weighted GPA: 4.16
Unweighted GPA: 4.5
Wtd CSU & UC GPA: 4.6</p>

<p>APs -
9th grade: none
10th grade: AP World History
11th grade: AP Art History, AP Calc AB, APUSH, AP Lit, AP Bio
12th grade: AP Statistics, AP Lang, AP Gov, AP European History
Straight As in freshman & soph year. Probably straight As in junior & senior year.
6 classes is max. So if you're taking, say, ASB or Newspaper, you can't have 6 APs. -_-
Straight As in freshman & sophomore year. Definitely going to aim for those straight As in junior & senior years.
*Total
: 10 APs.</p>

<p>COLLEGE COURSES -
Health
3rd year of Spanish</p>

<p>SCORES -
SAT I: On practice SATs, like at actual SAT prep centers, my highest was 2170. I know that will improve though as I haven't practiced too much.
(CR - 770. WR - 740. Math - 660. I'm horrible @ SAT math.)
PSAT: 194 in sophomore year. Yet to take the PSAT in junior year (the one that actually matters)
AP: World History - probably a 4 or 5. Hopefully many 5s and some 4s on the rest of my APs!
SAT II: Took World History. 750-780? Will take Korean, Math IIC, Lit, Bio, Chem, and USH. Hopefully 780-800 on those.
ACT: Took a practice at school - said my score range was 28-32.</p>

<p>ECs -
This is the part that kills me. I beat myself up everyday for not getting involved in at least some clubs since freshman year..
- NHS Secretary in 11th grade, NHS President in 12th grade
- Cross Country: grades 9-12. Varsity in 10th grade.
- Track and Field: grades 9-12.
- Library volunteering (4 hours a week)
- Newspaper in 11th grade. Since no one's enthusiastic about Newspaper at our school, the advisor told me I would probably get at least an editor position, esp. since I was very dedicated to it in the 7th and 8th grades. Possible editor-in-chief in senior year.
- Class of 2012 Club officer
- CSF
- Community service: total will probably be around 400 hours</p>

<p>And that's it. My ECs make me so angry :(
Above everything else, I know my lack of ECs will hurt me the most. During my junior and senior years, I do plan on joining MUN (someone actually made the club and its first year will be during my junior year), maybe Key Club, and probably several other clubs that I'm interested in. I did join Key Club in freshman year but it was so boring that I stopped going.</p>

<p>Suggestions & comments?
My chances aren't too high but I want actual opinions. Thanks in advance :)</p>

<p>Well, it’s a little early for commenting, considering you haven’t done 4/5 of the things on your list. That said:</p>

<p>Work on your SAT score. 2300+ if possible.
You should definitely try to National Merit on the PSAT next year. So 220+.
Classes look good, keep up the A’s. Although I don’t understand your GPA, is it a 5 point scale? If so, what is its comparison on a 4pt?</p>

<p>Now, all your EC’s you haven’t done yet. But assuming you do:</p>

<p>You seem fine. NHS sec/pres will look good assuming you actually get it. Yearbook is good. Class Officer will be good if you get it. Try and place at States/Regionals for sports, but keep up the good work.</p>

<p>NHS sec/pres is for sure (they announced officers already and I’m the only junior so when I’m senior, I’m pres). The ECs are all solid–they’re set–but it’s the lack of ECs that worries me. :(</p>

<p>As for the GPA:
A - 4.0
B - 3.0
C - 2.0
D - 1.0
F - 0.0
+1 for AP & HN.</p>

<p>Thank you for replying :)</p>

<p>I’m not an expert on chances and rarely offer people suggestions or advice, but I believe that there’s a significant difference between “actual” things you have done/accomplished and “hypothetical” things. </p>

<p>You’re only a sophomore – you haven’t actually taken your SATs, you haven’t actually gotten all As, you haven’t actually been appointed president of NHS. I’m not doubting that you will accomplish any of these goals, but I suggest that you wait until your junior year – or at least until your list is actually full of things that you have completed, rather than simply hoped would have happened – to post a thread.</p>

<p>Good luck in your junior year and all future endeavors, though.</p>
