Chance me please for UCs, USC, UIUC, and others

My profile:-

I’m an international student. Financial aid is not necessary.

At school, in 9th & 10th grade my marks were in between 85-90% . In 11th, they were about 70% (I have taken up Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Computer Science). I’m currently in 12th grade.

SAT scores: 1250/1600 on the New SAT. 700 on Math Level 2 Subject Test.

Extra-Curricular’s/Work experience:-

  • I have made 3 games for iOS which are on the App Store(Two of them have a 5-star rating).
  • I run a news website/blog about technology news and stuff with a friend of mine; it just hit 1 million registered users.
  • I also started a company in January 2016 with a partner, called 'fworld' which is sort of a fashion consultancy; my job there though is social media marketing, making the company's app( which I'll work on in a few months), and the company website which is almost done.
  • I also have a YouTube channel on which i post gadget/tech review videos, etc; the channel has over 200,000 views and a thousand subscribers now.
  • I have attended to 2-3 Model United Nations Conferences(One at Harvard).
  • I have also attended a robotics summer camp at NASA in which there was also a competition that my team won.
  • I have done 30 hours of community service.
  • I have also completed a 45-day internship.
  • I also designed a website for a big event that my school was having recently.
  • Done 40-50 hours of community service.

Also, please suggest other good universities… My intended major is Computer Science. Thanks

with your current SAT scores, I assume, all the schools you have mentioned might be a tough game (also because you are an international student). But i think your ECs are fabulous, so hopefully you should have written a solid personal essay that might raise you a chance or I recommend you to get at least 1350 above for the new SAT, seriously.

And you are doing computer science, then I suppose at least 1400 now, no joke, I am serious

I agree with coreau, if you improved your SAT you would have a great chance at the schools you listed(due to your fantastic ECs!). Your GPA is also on the low side, so again, a good SAT score could help make up a bit for that. Also, focus on crafting your essay well, because you could really hit that one out of the park and impress the admissions officers.

Thanks guys for your insights

Like I know the upper tier UCs like UCLA and UCB might be a little difficult to get in but what about other UCs like UCSD, UCSB, UCI…

What are you planning on majoring in? If I caught your drift correctly probably engineering or CS, right?

But here’s what your chances would be for general admission:

Reach:
UC Berkeley
UCLA
UIUC
USC
UC San Diego

Match:
UC Santa Barbara
UC Davis
UC Irvine
UIUC (Statistics & Computer Science Major)
Cal Poly SLO
Rochester Inst. of Tech.
Purdue
Rutgers- New Brunswick
Penn State Main Campus

Safety:
UC Santa Cruz
UC Riverside
Cal Poly Pomona
Cal State Fullerton
Cal State Long Beach (My father came from India to do his masters in Civil Engineering here, works for a Top 5 engineering company in the US now)

If you have any questions, just tag me @mohchan360 in your post.

Whoops, you did say CS in the OP, guess I skipped over that.

I would put Cal Poly SLO in the Reach category due to the 10% acceptance rate for CS major along with below average SAT score (Avg 1450). UCD/UCSB in the High Match-Low Reach due to the competitiveness of the CS program at these schools. Definitely reconsider taking the SAT for better chances.

I would put UCD, UCSB, and UCI in the reach category as well. Your SAT is a little low for those schools. Just do the best you can to score at least a 1450. Good luck!

Have you taken the oct and nov SAT exams?? What werr you score

No, eI haven’t taken the SAT again. I had my mid-term exams in school so I was busy with those
