I know it’s bad but what can I do to improve, and what colleges do you recommend for me to apply to? Thanks so much.

Dear bunny2015 : Let me explain something in your profile that will raise substantial concerns about your profile when events are correlated. According to your documented work, you have take Precalculus I and II in your Junior Year. Effectively, this should have been the preparation work for either a Calculus AB or BC curriculum. However, despite having that prep work, you are showing a 440 on the SAT I Math. This is 70 points below the national average - much less what one would expect for a highly selective national university. This, in turn, makes us question the 3.88 GPA and the rigor of your course work.

If you hit the ball out of the park in your next SAT testing, you are hoping for an 1800 which will still be in the bottom quartile overall of the accepted BC class.

We have to be honest. Right now, you are simply too far off the mark on a number of fronts. Aside from academics, we do not see AP level work in your High School curriculum, no sports engagement (school spirit) as an athlete (not a serious issue, but noteworthy), no clubs of note, no honor societies, and limited leadership roles.

You have to start identifying schools more in-line with your already documented abilities. As for college recommendations, this is where you need to take some ownership of your future. Instead of asking “where should I attend”, invest your time and effort on College Board and other sites of a similar nature that would allow your to start your screening process based on your current stats, not future numbers.

Good luck.

I forgot to mention I do track since 9th grade and cross country since 10th grade, I’m in Band, Science Honor Society, Science Olympiad, Environmental Club, Model UN, does that help?

Dear bunny2015 : The interesting and new piece of information here is your Science Honor Society and Science Olympiad participation. Is science a strength in your academic background that is not emerging in your current SAT I scores? If so, perhaps you should consider taking the ACT which will provide a different scoring system for you with an more diverse academic focus. You will still have the English and Math sections that require further mastery however the science section will more clearly reflect your academic background.
