Hi, hopefully someone sees this
I am a senior in CA and I am applying to ED2 at NYU
I want to know what are my chances.
I am an international student and moved to the U.S. 18 month ago
I went to school in Georgia and then transferred to California
I have a unweighed GPA of 3.72
My best ACT score is 29 (English 32, math 35, reading 24, science 26, essay 9)
I am retaking it this month and I want to take it again in December, but then it overlaps with finals
1. Should I take ACT 4 times?
I took math2 in June and got 690; I'm retaking it next month with Chinese
Because I came here late in my junior year, I didn't take any APs
but I got a 5 in AP Chinese
I am taking AP biology, Calculus BC, and Statistics right now
Volunteer: cashier at local hospital gift shop, tutor at school and outside of school, member of American Heart Association, volunteer at city museum, and cleaned a lot beaches and habitat restoration
Activities: European Culture club (president), Community Service club (VP), member of Chinese culture club and Korean culture club, JV swimming junior year and varsity this year, and others from China
I am pretty good at writing narratives so I think I can do very good in my personal statement
I want to apply to global liberal studies or college of art and science
2. What are my chances?

its a general rule to not go beyond 3 times at any test

Definitely need to bring that science and reading scores up for act to around 28-29
If you a 35 on math in the act, then it shouldn’t too hard for you to get 740-760ish on the math2
Also, I would reconsider taking chinese subject test bcuz if you r natively chinese, colleges value that score less than if you werent. Consider taking english which is valued more, but its probably harder for you. So, just something to consider. All said and done, I think if you brought that act score up, then you are almost definitely getting in based on others who have gotten in. Then again, your essays play a huge role in that.

Also that differs between the two colleges you have selected. Each college has a different acceptance rate. Im pretty sure CAS is much harder than global liberal studies, but I could be wrong. I myself am applying to NYU Stern in 5 days.

I think you definitely have a chance. NYU should be a high match to a mid reach for you

You’re looking pretty good depending on the school you’re applying to…if this is for CAS, I think you’re okay
Stern might need a little more work though; better ACT scores would help!

The fact that you are an international student is really really going to help your application so don’t compare yourself with those around you who have always lived here. Actually now that I realize you’re international, your GPA and ACT are really looking a lot better to me!

Hi @bobcat97 I hope you can get into Stern
How do I chance you back?

Hi @ImNYUobsessed
I’m obsessed with NYU too and I’m so afraid they don’t want me.
Thanks!! How can I chance you back?

Hi @asderzxhk
Thanks for chancing me. Do you want me to chance you back?
I’m new to this website so I’m not sure how it works.

THANKS :)

Hi, you have an OKAY chance of getting in. You’re pretty much average I’d say. Actually you could be on the lower side. I know Stern is the hardest school, which you have an even slimmer chance for.

Pros: you’re gpa is decent and your APs are nice. Your ECs are great too.

Con: ACT score is a little low. No work exp. you’re asian (which will work against you in this case).

Can you chance me back? Just click on my user name. Thanks!

your act score is a bit low, i would take it again but that would be 4 times which is a lot… everything else seems pretty good

Thanks @food4lyfe I’m so worried about my ACT score but the reading and science part is so hard for me.
Would it be easier if I am applying to global liberal studies tho?
