I want to apply to Williams, Wellesley, Vassar, Amherst, plus Cornell and Brown/Princeton, with 100% aid. Do i have a chance? My recos are going to be very good, and my essay is shaping up really well.

Thanks a lot! :)

Bu-u-u-mp.

Until you get your SAT/SATII subject tests, it is hard to speculate. Even then getting 100% financial aid is difficult and you would be comparing yourself to literally the top person in India. For instance, Brown may receive 300 applicants from India and maybe 5 will be accepted and 1 may get some aid. From what I am seeing, colleges may give some aid but you have to account for other aid through private loans/scholarships. Your essay on the lake project sounds interesting. Your 2 years of music isn’t going to make you unique. So focus on what makes you unique. If your arts background is very good, do a arts portfolio as well.

Thank you for replying!
And oh. That clears it up a bit. Yes, i do plan to apply for scholarships.
Well, I am primarily a Science student who has a lot of arts achievements. Yes, i have prepared an Arts portfolio, I hope that will help my chances. The thing is, i have a lot of achievements in many fields. I’ll try to take your advice and narrow it down to the important (and relevant) stuff.
As for class rankings, I was in the top 2% in my school (~200 students) in class 10 and in the top 15 for sure in class 11. And if it makes any difference, I learnt the guitar too for a year (no certification though). I have also written an article to an award winning magazine. Anyway, digressing.
What kind of profile would you need to have to be get 100% aid? And am I qualified for acceptance into these colleges, if not for aid?
