Schools I'm looking at:
BC
brandeis
CWRU
northeastern
johns hopkins
BU
SUNY - Binghamton & stonybrook
UNC CH
Umich
notre dame
Urochester
WUSTL
university of miami
wash & lee
RPI

There are also some schools I'm applying through questbridge..if that makes any difference

I intend to do ROTC if available in the school

Any thoughts/suggestions...thank you.

Are you a permanent resident? If you are not, you won’t be eligible for financial aid(Which will limit your options).

Yes, I have a green card and am a permanent resident. Also, I have crossed off johns hopkins and notre dame, and added CMU.

@Junyumi1 Great! SUNY schools are either mid-low match/safety for you. I heard that CMU/RPI aren’t that generous in terms of financial aids.

Thanks! Have any opinions on the other schools? Reason is, I just got my class rank back today…and I’m a bit anxious it’s not even in top 10% :’(

bump 10char

bumppp 10char

Most SUNY’s are matches or safeties for you.
Beside Bing and SB, look at Geneseo and find 1-2 you really like for its location, special program, etc. yet where you’re above the 75% mark.

Now, think of “fit”.
I see BC and Brandeis on your list and what I think isn’t, ‘oh wow, great fit’ - I think “she wants to go to Boston and culled her list from USNWR”. Your choices are all over the place and at this level of selectivity, fit matters. Pick up a Fiske Guide or Princeton Review’s best colleges or Insider’s guide to the colleges, and read up on a few schools to see what “fits” you best.

Due to BC, Notre Dame, and Washington&Lee, I assume you want to attend a rather conservative school? We could help you find more like these. Or were these schools included for other reasons?

be aware that Notre Dame is notorious for not being generous to high-need students such as yourself.

To increase your odds not only of getting in, but of getting financial aid, look at schools such as Simmons, Wheaton (MA), or Clark. Holy Cross is a reach but you could apply and see.

UNC-Ch meets need even for OOS students, but since only 18% of a class can be made of OOS students, the competition is almost as fierce as for the Ivy League.

CWRU = good odds
RPI = good odds
But… have you run the Net price calculators? Have you talked with your family about how much they can afford?

Cross out UMich: it would cost almost your entire family’s yearly income to go there. Typically, public universities do not provide institutional financial aid to out of state students. Some do provide merit aid though: with you’re stats (32ACT and 91), you’d get an automatic, full scholarship to University of Alabama.

Essential:
Look at this list of schools that meet 100% - you want to have many schools from that list on your college application list.
[100% Meet Need Colleges | CollegeGreenlight](<a href=“Colleges with Need-Blind Admission for U.S. Students”>Colleges with Need-Blind Admission for U.S. Students)

Agree that Holy Cross-top25 LAC would be a good match.

I have taken ND off my list, but as far as BC and Brandeis go, I chose those particular schools because their biology is strong. I intend to major in biology, mostly research, not doctor. As far as politics go, yes I am conservative in my views, but to be honest, I am going to college for an education and I really have no preference with whether a school is liberal or conservative. TBH, one of the schools I really want to go to is UCLA, and I will apply, but I know they place a high consideration on high school GPA…which I am not exactly good at :frowning: Oh, and also, my dad got a job this past week, so this bumps my income to around 90k or so, if everything goes as it is on paper.

UCLA isn’t a good choice because, like UMich, it’s a public university and you’re applying from out of state so it’ll cost you $55,000/year! For a school similar to UCLA, look into USC (= private) and explore the Claremont colleges, especially for the Keck Science Institute. Those would be reaches for you. Holy Cross is another reach for biology. Look into Dickinson, great for biology and science in general, a match for you.

BC
CWRU

johns hopkins

SUNY - Binghamton & stonybrook
UNC CH
Umich
notre dame
Urochester
WUSTL

Obviously just my opinion but:

Reaches: Brandeis, Johns Hopkins, Umich, Binghampton (low reach)
The other schools, i think, are matches/high matches

Good Luck!!

Chance me back please?
