Chance me please! THANK YOU

I’m a foreign student from Singapore of mixed heritage( Indian+Chinese) and i’ve applied to some high tier schools this year (Harvard, Yale, Stanford, Wharton) but did not get in. However i have to serve in the army for 2 years so i’ll be re-applying. I’m planning widening the applications and am thinking of applying to Yale, Columbia, Wharton, Stanford, NYU(stern), Berkeley and UMich(direct to undergrad business) and would like to know my chances. I took the GCE “A” Levels and some of my ECs will be a bit foreign but i’ll try to explain them thoroughly. Thank you all in advance.

Academics:

SAT 1: 2270 (reading:800, math:740, writing:730)
SAT 2: Math L2:800, Chemistry:800, Physics:800
GCE “A” Level results:
A in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Math
Distincitions at Special Level for Chemistry and Physics
B in General Paper (for local applications)
(pretty much quite close to a perfect score which allows me to obtain enough credits to skip a year)

My school doesn’t rank nor calculate GPA but i have gotten As for my 4 main subjects for every internal examination which is something done by less than 10 students in a school of 1300 students. Everyone’s grades increases at the GCE “A” Levels and based on my results i would be in the top 100 of the school with a somewhat tie between number 24-100

Thats pretty much what there is to my school life. I really do appreciate any help all of you all can give. Thank you once again.

I simply don't see a place for you at Penn, sorry.

The cornell board is just around the corner.

math 740? no

but i did get 800 for my math L2, it was pretty much down to carelessness rather than not knowing how to do the questions. does the SAT 1 really hurt that much?

I'm assuming that you would like to major in business.

Your basic stats are good. Your math score isn't bad at all. You did get an 800 in Math Level 2; that's good.

I don't think your ranking in school works in your favor though. You want to be at least in the top 5% of your class if you want to aim for an ivy league as a business major.

I don't know how well you write, but you should work on your essays and carefully craft them. Admissions committees really scrutinize essays, and they can be convinced to accept you if your essays are well-written.

Don't rule out Cornell either. Apply to Cornell CALS Applied Economics and Management. It's an ivy league too. You may not have been good enough for Wharton, but Cornell might accept you.

No, I am not saying that being admitted to Cornell is easy. In fact, I think Cornell is a good school.

hey, thanks for the solid advice. the problem with my school is that they set a limit on the number of ivy league schools any student can apply to. its a cap of 3 so that the applicants wouldn't end up competing with each other. will have to consider swapping cornell in. the class rank thing really cant be avoided cos there's a huge number of us who get identical results cos its only one final exam. maybe i can get my counsellor to say nice things about my performance during internal examinations. i shall go get cracking on my essays once again while i have the time. thank you.

oh god do not let anything anyone says on this website influence you

and definitely do not let anyone on this website tell you to apply to cornell

1 piece of advice for getting into a good college? get off this website

^true!!
I swear, I used to be addicted to this site during junior year. It got me all stressed out about apps and college and whatnot. Fortunately I sort of stopped checking it out during senior year and I swear its the best thing that could've happened to me. Decision time came by and I couldn't have been more relaxed. CC gives you a completely skewed idea of the kind of student schools want. Don't worry, peoples predictions aren't gonna change the fact that you're bound to get into an awesome school.

omg megaman123~
same here!lol
