Fordham-Waste of your application fee, not because you won’t get in, but because if you’re as smart as your portfolio makes you out to be, you’d go insane after a week in that sort of academic environment. Fordham should be a last resort for you.

Thank you @NotVerySmart‌

I think that you will definitely get into Miami, Denver, Trinity, Fordham, and Vanderbilt. Stanford, MIT, Harvard, Columbia are reaches for everyone but I think that you will get into at least one. You will probably get into Cornell and UChicago too I think but again it could be a toss up because they’re very competitive schools. Best of luck!!

Your profile is extremely solid and you can compete in the Ivy League pool. All the non Ivy League colleges you named shouldn’t be tough to get into for a person with your profile. The big boys like Harvard, MIT, Standford and what not are too hard to tell. Your scores are a tinsy bit low but anything can happen when you are applying to the big boys.

@notverysmart: what do you mean about Fordham?
(Fordham is a bit below ND and BC, but it’s one of the top 5 Catholic universities in the country and it’s located in New York City, with the dual advantages of a real residential campus and the city a few minutes away.)

@NotVerySmart‌ Forgot to mention, I received a fee waiver from Fordham and my commonapp was all done.
So it won’t hurt me if I apply there
@ptkid16‌ and @Yoshi24‌ Thank you guys
@MYOS1634‌ How do you think my chances are? :stuck_out_tongue:

@MYOS1634‌ I mean that Fordham’s SAT midranges have 25% cutoffs in the 500’s and 75% cutoffs below 700.

If OP really is one of the best students in Tunisia (as suggested by his GPA), he’ll be bored out of his mind there. Also, his focus seems to be physics/math. Here are Fordham’s most popular majors: Accounting, Business Administration, Communication Studies, Economics, English, History, Political Science, and Psychology. Accounting and communications. Really. :))

The hard sciences don’t even appear on the list, suggesting they aren’t a focus at Fordham, and I don’t think OP is interested in majoring in communications. All the information at my disposal (which is, admittedly, limited) suggests Fordham would be absolutely terrible for a student like this. It’s a tier below what would be a safety school for an applicant like this.

Cornell- Low Reach
Colombia-Reach
Duke-Low Reach

Harvard- High Reach(but not unreachable)
Stanford- High Reach

Vanderbilt-Low Reach
WUSTL- Reach/Low Reach
MIT- High Reach/Reach

You should definitely be admitted to Denver, Trinity, Miami, Rhodes, Grinell, and Fordham, although like previous posters, I’m not quite sure Fordham’s atmosphere would be be the most conducive to your aims. With Duke, Cornell, UChicago, Notre Dame, Vanderbilt, and WUSTL, you should get into a good amount of them, and UChicago seems like it would fit your needs quite well in the academic sense, although for that matter all of then would. Also I wasn’t as sure about WUSTL, they have a tendency to reject very competitive applicants if they think that aren’t interested enough so make sure to demonstrate plenty of interest there. UPenn and Colombia would be the next step up, and you should stand a decent chance of getting in at at least one of them. MIT is a valid possibility as well, and would also be a good fit. Harvard and Stanford are both high reaches but they are for everyone and you stand just as good of a chance as anyone. Long story short, you are a competitive applicant at virtually all of these schools and Good luck!

Take at my thread as well if you get the chance!

In all likelihood, OP is indeed one of the best students in Tunisia. I hope that with his records, he makes it into one of the top universities he listed. The issue is that as an international student, he doesn’t have the luxury to consider Fordham a safety. It’s merely a match, for financial reasons. It wouldn’t be “terrible” to attend Fordham, or OP wouldn’t have included it on the list (and Denver is far below Fordham). While I agree Fordham may not be “the best” for OP, oftentimes international students don’t have the luxury of choosing “the best” and have to pick the least bad choice. There are many worse choices than Fordham - especially since it’s got upper level classes that OP could join once he’s completed his classes. In the end, it comes down to choosing between a local choice and a less than optimal American choice, and the American choice may still be better than local choices for a variety of reasons, and in almost all cases will come with more opportunities and resources. If the American choice isn’t seen as preferable, then the local choice is an easy solution. OP is likely to get his pick among Tunisian universities and programs so if it comes down to, say, Fordham vs. INSAT, OP will have to choose based on his own criteria. Hopefully though OP will get into other schools.

@Hertzog‌ Thank you  I just chanced you back

@salvadb‌ Thank you for your chancing but how can UChicago be easier to get in than Notre Dam?

MIT, Harvard, Stanford-High Reach
Chicago, Columbia, Duke, Penn-Reach
Cornell, Vanderbilt, WUSTL, Notre Dame-Low Reach
Grinnell, Trinity-Match

The rest are almost certainly safe.

You’ve great stats but those top schools have phenomenal students every year, the Ivies, Stanford and MIT reject students with higher course load and ECs than you do but your origin may help as they care for diversity. I’m an international student too and that scares me, no financial aid but I can manage.

With a banging essay I think you’d have a good chance. But colleges like UDenver, Fordham are your safeties. They’ll take you.

Care to change back?

First off, I want to seriously congratulate you on what you’ve achieved. This app is really strong, and your background makes you quite the unique applicant.

Columbia - Mid/low reach
Cornell - Low reach
Duke - Mid/low reach
Fordham - Match
Harvard - Mid reach
Stanford - Mid reach
Trinity - Match
UChicago - Low reach
U Denver - Match
U Miami - Match
Notre Dame - High match
UPenn - Low reach
Vanderbilt - High match
Washington St. Louis - High match
MIT - Low reach (I have a feeling about MIT being a good fit for you, but who knows)

GOOD LUCK!

My brother goes to MIT and I can assure you that you are lacking EC’s and will be a reach. My brother was waitlisted with a 107 average took 11 AP’s, SAT of 2370, 800 physics SAT 2! Due to no EC’s. The most likely Ivy League school you will get into is Cornell. You are a match for Vanderbilt, Notre Dame. Uchicago places a heavy emphasis on your qualities.

Recs are great but your SAT are very low for an international. I’d say reject at HYPSM and in at one of the other Ivies/equivalents. Again you are international needing aid so you’ll be lucky to get into any Ivy at all.
