I'm planning on majoring in Bio and going to Med School. My main concern in my GPA. I developed Chron's disease at the beginning of Sophomore year and an auto immune blood disease soon afterwards and have been dealing with those since then with regular absences from school and trips to the ER. However, this is the reason for my interest in pre med and since then I've amassed my volunteer hours at the hospital and shadowed the physician. I plan to write about this and my struggles in my essays. Any opinions on my chances would be great, thanks.

Your GPA is a bit low, unfortunately, for Georgetown or NYU, but I wouldn’t completely rule them out because of your unusual circumstance. Your SAT score, of course, looks great, as do your SAT II scores and your extracurriculars.

Though I wish your extracurriculars were a bit more focused.

You’ll probably get into SUNY Binghamton (in state?) and you have a good chance at Drexel and Northeastern. You’ll also have a good chance at BU. As for the others (especially BC and Georgetown), your gpa is a little low, but you have a shot at all of them. Good luck!

oh gosh, if you elucidate on your time with Crohn’s disease and write a really passionate essay, I’m sure you can get into any of these schools! but what are your classes like?

Basically safety: Northeastern, Drexel, Loyola Maryland, and SUNY Binghamton.
Low match: BU and BC
Match: NYU and Tufts
Georgetown is a bit hard to tell, it palatially depends on how they account for your medical circumstances, but either way you have a good shot. Also, if you’re recruited for soccer then your odds increase quite a good bit.

You’ll probably get in at all your schools. Your GPA is low but your unique situation will probably cover for that. The only school that is a “reach” is Georgetown, but it is a reach for pretty much everyone. Good luck!

Thanks for all the comments guys. I’ll start getting to repay the chances now. Just an update for anyone else if it changes anything, all of my classes are AP level/higher and I won’t be recruited for soccer.

Thanks for chancing me! Although you have a slightly below average GPA for these schools, but given how unique your situation is, I don’t think that will make much of a difference. You have a great shot at these schools given your situation. Good luck and be proud of what you have accomplished in high school!

Your gpa is on the low side, but you have great SAT scores. BU, Loyola, Drexel and SUNY should be matches. NYU, BC, Tufts, and Northwestern low reaches.

BU, NYU, Tufts and Georgetown are your only reaches - if you apply early they’d easily be matches though. You have a really good chance everywhere with a good essay about your unfortunate circumstances. Best of luck :)
