Hey guys, as application decisions near for Early Action/Early Decision colleges, should I even count on Pomona, or should I just waive goodbye? Do I have a chance at all?

Should I even apply to Columbia and Stanford? Their essays are so miscellaneous. Should I replace those two with Princeton and Brown because their essays are easier?

I believe that you have some decent stats! with great essays and recommendations Pomona is a match/ low reach. Good luck!

Thanks a lot for the responses :)

Ok, so I haven’t looked at any other responses so I’m not biased based on them (although I’m biased by myself).

Your GPA is pretty high (but it really depends on your class rank due to different high school GPA inflation). I think your weakest point is your standardized testing which we all agree are a pain in the butt. Overall, your ECs in school are good, but what stands out are the trip to Iran and college class. If your essays are as good as you say, then I think you’ll have a good chance in getting into your colleges.

Pomona ED: high
UCLA: high
UCSD: high
UCD: high
Stanford (I know it’s a reach ): this is all on luck for you now
Columbia (same as above): same as above
Northwestern: good chance
Johns Hopkins: good chance
Rice (fee waived- Why not?): good
UPenn: depends on what field you’re going to, Wharton is super hard
Cornell:good

Oh and if you have the chance, please “chance” my stats as well!! Thanks!

Thanks a lot for your honest chancing Joesm112. Yes, I think my weakest link for these colleges in my test scores. I just don’t like testing. For upenn, I’m going for sciences, so not wharton (probably the hardest undergraduate school to get into on the face of Earth), but nevertheless I still look at it as a reach :)

My school doesn’t rank, so I don’t know my exact percentile, but on the UC apps, it told me that I am in the top 9 percent out of the 432 students in my class. My high school is definitely competitive
