chance me please :)

ill be applying towards the end of 2011.
My GPA: is about 3.6
Im a student in India, and the scoring is much tougher as is the curriculum, so my GPA doesn't reflect my potential. My percentile in class is 1/70.

SAT SCORES:
SAT 1: Math 740 CR 750 and Writing 720 (essay- 10)
SAT 2: Pending. I intend on taking Math 2 and Physics. (I'm not too bad at these, so I should be able to manage a minimum of 750 in both the tests.. I might take one in Biology or Chemistry as well)

Course Workload: Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, English, Economics, Environmental Science.

Responsibilities:

1)Class President

2)Captain of the school debating team

3)Captain of the school drama team

4)Chairperson of the Security Council and the General Assembly in the school Model UN.

5) Member of the core group that started Model UN in the eastern region of India.

6)Secretary of the Creative Arts Club.

7) Founding member of the Creative Arts Club.

8)Director of the Science Club.

9) Assistant Director of a professional theatre company called Treehat Productions. The company is local. Its hoping to go national within the next year or two with its upcoming productions.

Awards and Merits:

1)Best Actor, Best Director, and awardee of the Best Production- I have won these at intra-school and inter-school events. (In fact, I wrote, directed and produced a play for an inter-school drama festival, I was competing with teachers rather than students, and the play won Best Production and I won Best Actor.)

2)Best Debater at multiple national debate tournaments.

3)Best Delegate: I have been to only two Model UNs so far. Our school doesn't give us much of an opportunity in this area. (which is why we started Model UN in the first place). Both times i represented USA in the Security Council and won Best Delegate.

In the field of co-curriculars, theatre has been a sphere of great interest. My essay aims to be on theatre and drama, I may even send a clip of the play i directed, or a clip of me acting out a role for which i have been awarded.

I dont do much volunteer work. About 2 hours a week, i teach under-priveleged children of ages 5-9 english and basic arithmetic.

That's pretty much it.

most importantly
MY FOCUS IS THE WHARTON SCHOOL OF BUSINESS.

chance me please :)

Hey there!
Ill give you my honest opinion.
3.6? Not exactly a good gpa my friend…then again…you wont know how colleges take the indian grading system and then change it into their level of gpa. you can only hope and pray that it works out for you.
Percentile ranking=good…but you say that is class. when you mean class…do you literally mean the classroom…or the entire school? You need to know what your ranking is out of the entire school.
Your sat score is decent…not great but decent. My advice would be taking it again in order to score higher. Lots of students do this, so dont think itll undermine you if you do that.
extracurriculars=wonderful - exactly what they’re looking for.
all you need know is a stellar essay…and beyind awesome reference letters and your good to go my friend!
i say you have a pretty good chance of getting in…either that or you’ll be waitlisted…but not rejected.
best of luck!

Don’t retake the SAT. That’s bad advice. Your score now is fine. You have a 2210 and you are above 700 on all sections with the highest being critical reading. Critical reading is usually harder to score well on than math.
The fact that you have a 3.6 GPA doesn’t really matter if you are in the top of your class. It just means that your school grades harder. However, especially if people from your school have gone to Penn before, they will take this into account.

I definitely think you have a good chance of being accepted, but I absolutely do not agree that it’s impossible for you to be rejected. Admissions is very much a crapshoot. There are many factors that really only become apparent when the admissions committee reads your applications. On here we do not really know anything about your school or what you have done besides a few adjectives. We also do not know about your essays. “Write outstanding essays and get great recommendations” is very vague advice. It’s hard to do this.
