Too weak? I'm not sure, I'd love some second opinions. Thanks!

Like you mentioned, GPA is a concern. Michigan heavily weights UW GPA and that could hinder your chances. Otherwise, you have a solid SAT score and decent E.C’s so I’d say you have a shot.

I think you have a shot. Your SAT and SAT Subject scores are great and u have good ECs.
If you have a reason for certain grades (death in family, sickness) make sure u mention in. If u don’t, skip that part.
Overall…go for it!
I’m a rising senior too and I hope I get in as well (in state).
Best wishes!

Also, do they offer any scholarships for OOS students? I’m not likely to get one, but I’m just curious.

Given your SAT scores, you have a very good chance.

7-Bs, 4-As if they look at sophomore and junior year and 8-As, 8 Bs if they look at all three years so GPA is dicey at 3.5 but your SATs are good so it’s worth a shot if you are interested in UofM. have many other kids from you applied so their is context to your grades? Michigan is very expensive. They meet need for in-state students but do not guarantee to meet need for out of state students.

From my school last year, 28 applied and 13 were accepted, and the average accepted gpa is 3.5, and average SAT score ~2100 but that doesn’t take into account EC’s and essay. I wouldn’t qualify for financial aid…I think I’ll give it a go anyway. Thanks for all your help!

Your school obviously grades harshly and Michigan obviously knows that. Definitely apply. I would say, given the information above, that Michigan is a slight reach, perhaps even a match.

This said, it is unlikely you will receive a merit scholarship.

Clearly, you have access to Naviance. Do not waste your time on asking for chances on CC. Naviance is a far more telling predictor than any CC opinion poll you are likely to receive.

Agree with Alexandre. If you are in top 10% of your class and U-M takes 1/2 of those who apply and if average GPA of those accepted is 3.5, I would definitely apply. GPA is the only question and there seems to be support for your case.
