Can you do anything to raise your SAT score (raise it quite a bit)?
How about if you enroll in an SAT prep class and do nothing but study for it (100% of your free time) between now and the October test dates?

Can you explain your unusually high grades and low scores?

I say this because the BC Factbook show that the “middle 50%” SAT scores for last year’s admitted freshman were 1960-2150. Your 1850 is deep into the lower 25% quartile.

So while BC does admit some with your scores, if BC is truly your goal and dream, you have a lot of free waking hours between now and the fall SAT test dates. How bad do you want to get in?

Your ACT is good. You could just submit that.

Also, if you have time to retake, you might be better off retaking the ACT since it appears to be your stronger test

Thanks for your response jpm50…do you think it would be okay if I just submitted my ACT?

According to the ACT website, an ACT score of 30 maps to about a 2000 on the SAT scale. (The BC factbook doesn’t list incoming ACT scores). So a 30 (mapping to a 2000) puts you in the low end of the middle 50th percentile.

The BC factbook is at:
http://www.bc.edu/content/dam/files/publications/factbook/pdf/13_14/13-14_fact_book.pdf

BC does accept “some” with a 30 ACT, (you can read through all the BC decision threads on this CC forum), but those tend to occur when there is something else really strong elsewhere in the application.

according to IPEDS, BC’s ACT interquartile is 30-33, so 30 is still low.

Rumor has it, however that BC is one of the few schools that superscores the ACT, so a retake could boost you quickly. (I say rumor since I have not seen the policy in print.)

Your SAT is very low, your ACT is a only a bit low; but your GPA is great! Depending on the school you apply to (CSOM, A&S, or Nursing) will change your chances. If you keep the same test scores and apply to CSOM, you are unlikely to get in; however, if you keep the same scores and apply to A&S you have a chance
