I know numerous people who were rejected from UCD and got into UCI. I also know two people who got into UCSD with fewer honors and lower GPA's than another friend who got rejected. Neither your experience or my experience say much about anything....
UCD vastly expanded this year to accomodate the increase in students seeking admissions to the UC system. As the crown jewel of the UC system (no I did not coin this phrase it comes straight from the UC system) UCD was and still is the school with the most room for growth. All of the other UC's combined could fit inside of UCD. UCD uses a point system and it is cut and dry, unlike UCSB (grades based) and UCI. (who knows what they do) UCD will cut back on admissions this year, that is almost a certainty.

Is the appeals process very complicated?

Also, do you guys know which UCs are the ones with the 300+ students in a classroom for a lecture (in other words, which UCs are like UCLA), and which UCs focus more on individual learning? Thanks.

Yeah, how does the appeals process work?
