Chance me please

I summited my UC application in mid-november, and I have kind of been on edge ever since. I have applied to UCD, UCSC, UCI, and UCSB. Here are my stats:

What are my chances? Thanks a lot in advance.

P.S. In all campuses, I applied for either bio or science/behavior majors.

Did you take any honor or AP classes in 11th or 12th grade? Are you from a low income family?

Since you are first generation attending college, you get extra points. If you are from a low income family or single parent family, you get even more points. I would say UCSB, UCI and UCD reach, UCSC match.

In 12th grade (now), I am taking AP calculus and AP biology.

Member of GATE (Gifted And Talented Education)

Doesn't reflect in your grades. I guess you are from a school with relatively low API.

GATE is a type of class, like honors in California.

Uh... I don't think it is. I was designated G.A.T.E. in elementary school, and all that meant was that the G.A.T.E. students got to be seperate for the reading program or something like that. And that we got to take honors in jr high without having to test into it.

Actually, I am from Clark Magnet High School, which is a very prestigious school. My counsellor told me that this will help my chances a little.

I'm in the same boat as you- I just finished my UC application yesterday. But based on the statistics I've seen from those schools, I'd say you'll get into UCSC, UCD will be a slight reach, and UCI and UCSB will be larger reaches.

To fishOmatic,
I attend a public school in southern california, I have GATE designated classes. They are weighted.

"UCD will be a slight reach, and UCI and UCSB will be larger reaches."

Actually UCD, UCI and UCSB are all quite equal in terms of who they accept or don't accept. UCD is probably more of a reach than UCI since UCD uses a cut and dry point system where as UCI is more of a case by case type of admissions.

Interesting... I didn't know that Davis also uses a point system, I thought it was just UCSD. In that case (going back to hye345's question) I guess you can just find the formula to estimate your chance of getting into that particular campus.

I did find that formula, and applied it; out of approximately 14000 points, the bar was 7500. I got approximately 7310, but I didnt give myself any points for individual initiative, leadership, special talents, Perseverance & personal difficulty, and Marked improvement in 9th-11th grade (im trying to be conservative). I am also retaking the SAT1 on dec 2.

Err... to VoR - I know several people who got into UCD and not UCI or UCSB. As of now, UCD has the highest admittance rate out of all three of those schools, and is therefore the least selective. I think it's relatively reasonable to say that UCI and UCSB are more of reaches than UCD is for him, but I think they're all reaches anyway; GPA is one of the most important factors in admissions and your GPA is lacking.

Acceptance rates:
UCD- 68%
UCI- 59.1%
UCSB- 52%

It's obvious UCD is easier to get into, thus less of a reach.

UC Davis expanded so they had to accept more to accomodate for the added space.

Years past shows that UCD, typically, accepted at the 50%-60% interval.

Haha, me and you have like the same stats. Good luck!

Good luck! Lets hope we also make the cut... :)

P.S. Do I have to send my midyear transcripts to the UCs? Cuz if I do, this is good news: my GPA for senior year right now is something like 3.85 weighted :)

nope, but your improved grade could help for appeals.
