I wish to opt for Engineering in CS, or aeronautics, or mechanical.

ECs:-
1. Community service thru a Volunteer Suicide Alleviation Program.
2. Business owner of a Profitable Company, CEO there.
3. Badminton Player (First place recurring twice).

Purdue and USC are both very prestigious colleges and it is quite hard to get into them. Your SAT score is very low, try to improve the score and get atleast 2000+ or 2100.

^A 500 point increase would be a little hard dont u think. Look into Drexel University. Very int’l friendly and may be match for ur stats.
I cant say for purdue but USC is a reach

Sorry if i appear harsh but your 12th scores and SAT scores are really really low (assuming SAT is out of 2400), there is absolutely no chance of you making it. I would advise that you study ALOT- leave that ‘company’, badminton, everything and study your ass off if you want to do engineering at a decent college.

Try taking the ACT to see if you do better on that. Take the SAT again as well, and study really hard with the help of SAT preparation books.

The fact that you own a business is extremely impressive. If I may ask, are you sure you want to do engineering? The fact that you’re CEO of a company suggests to me that you have a good brain for business. Despite the popular opinion in India, engineering is not for everybody. Examine your reasons for taking up engineering, and figure out if you’re doing it because you’re passionate about it or because somebody asked you to take it.

If you are indeed decided on doing engineering, then you need to know that the colleges you’ve looked at are both very competitive. Getting in to colleges is tougher for internationals in most cases, and unfortunately both of the schools you’ve listed right now are far reaches.

Note: I beg to differ with the above posters: you can certainly make it with lower scores. The stats on this site are very high; you need not measure yourself up against people here. A 2000+ SAT score is actually not compulsory. I know people with scores less than that who are still going to good universities. You will not be going to a top-ranked university, but other options exist, too. Look up SAT optional schools. These colleges recognize that standardized tests do not necessarily indicate a student’s level of intelligence. Some good schools that are SAT optional are Bowdoin, DePaul, Dickinson, Lawrence and Mount Holyoke.

Of course, all of this is assuming that your SAT score is out of 2400. If it is out of 1600, then you have a strong chance of getting into Purdue or USC.

@muhammad keep in mind that on this site you will most find the extremely high end applicants or the extremely low end applicants. People that are usually in between wont post on here. Chance me threads in my opinion are just a way for people to brag. Oh look at me I have a 4.4 Gpa and a 2240 SAT. Yay for me. Take your chances bro and apply where you feel you are best qualified too.

Keep in mind that whatever you post on here colleges will see. So be careful.

Yeah, seriously, not every applicant can have stunning stats. I would say 75% for CBSE midterms is actually pretty decent. Getting higher than 85% on midterms is very hard. Boards are a different matter altogether, because CBSE is far more lenient than the average school teacher. You cannot really predict how well you do on the boards because it really does depend on how they evaluate the paper.

In my case, there was an almost 15% difference between my average midterm marks and the board results. For most of my friends, the difference was even more staggering. We all scored way more than we had expected to, so I say don’t judge by your expectations. You only know how well you’ve done once you get your marks.

You need a better SAT score! Apart from that your extra curricular activities are a bit weak and lacking leadership! Still apply to purdue, but please note that there are many international friendly schools that allow students in based on teir low diversity rates. Lookin into these!

I feel purdue will be more of a match IF you can impress the adcoms with your leadership skills. Everybody is not great at standardised testing… once you realise your strength( i.e leadership for you), it gets a whole lot easier…trust me :)
