chance me plzzz!!!!

School Profile : very low income
Ethnicity: Pakistani

GPA : 4.0 unweighted, not sure weighted as my school caps gpa at 4.32

APs : Completed 9 so far - Opted for 5 more next year : Calc BC, Spanish Lit, Gov/econ, Chem, and Physics

SAT scores: 730 R – 760 M-- 720 W

Subject SATs : 800 US and 800 Bio(E)

APs :; : APUSH 5 ; AP Human geo 5 : AP ENG Lang 5 : AP Spanis Lang 5, AP Eng lit 5, AP Euro 5, AP Enviro 5, AP Bio 4, AP Calc AB 4

Note: Not a native spanish speaker, but did well on Spanish test (will that look good?)

Hooks : Very good musician, played in major competitions all over California

ECs: Model UN chair, Philosophy club officer. two time varsity cross country and soccer player. I play in the local youth orchestra and have won major competitions for solos in the county level. I also was on the 4th place academic decathlon team in California two years ago, and received seven medals at the county competition which my team took first in.
I have also been in my counties honor band for the las five years and have consistently received a superior rating in local solo festivals. Regarding sports I was named the most improved runner and best offensive player last year, being picked by my coaches.

Scores and GPA look fine to me. The 5 on the AP Spanish test is awesome although it’s not a determining factor in admissions, but it’s a bonus. The EC’s are good but nothing stands out to me as wow. And maybe that’s because this is CC and everyone sets the bar so high. However, I’d say you have a good chance if the essays really show who you are!

Thanks!

.

anyone?

@grunterbaum1 i think you have a good to very good chance. Your SAT stellar, your gpa amd subject tests are great, and your accomplishments in music will probably set you apart. your involved in sport on top of everything else shows you are a well rounded person, which is something Penn values a lot. Also the fact that you are an under-represented minority from an underprivileged background will prob help a lot. Focus on your essays, amd especially research penn very well before writing the why Penn essay, and you will be fine! Are u applying ED or RD?

@Penn95 I’m applying ED most likely

.

Ok good. Statistically speaking ED gives you a slightly better chance. ( but not as much as people think just by looking at the respective acceptance rates of RD and ED simply because during ED a lot of preference is given to legacies and also recruited athletes) still one has a slightly better chance during ED regardless

I think your chances at ED are pretty decent. Of course, Ivy admissions are always hard, but get some good recs and work hard on your essays and I think you have a shot.

Thanks!
