Definitely! I’m not on my computer right now but when I am, I’ll PM you or something :]

Awesomepossum (:

It would absolutely be worth applying. Your SAT score is already decent and will almost certainly improve, your class rank is excellent, and your GPA shows an upward trend (Yale does not require perfection; see the thread about people being accepted over their schools’ valedictorians). Furthermore, your ECs are really excellent, by my judgment. I would say you have a fair chance with Yale, especially if your essays are strong - and that will probably be a safe bet given your writing credentials.

Thanks, livorneo!

I’m just nervous, considering I’ve seen maybe 2 people on here with a 3.7 or lower GPA from a not-so-competitive public school who were admitted. :/

Your EC’s are great, and numbers are not bad. I think you have a good chance!

Thanks, kellian!

Would you guys say that Yale is a reach, mid reach or high reach for me? Hahah

It’s hard to say. Strictly based on your GPA, Yale is a high reach. But everything else looks strong. Consider Yale a reach but within the realm of possibility for sure  People with more impressive stats have been rejected, and people with less impressive ECs have been accepted.

From what I know about Yale admissions you are definitely qualified. But so are most of the others who are rejected. It will depend on how you present yourself in your essays, teacher recommendations, etc.

Thanks for your replies!

Anyone else?

Your grades are a little low for Yale (while the improvement from Freshman year is nice, Yale will have plenty of people who were at or close to a 4.0 all through high school)

Your ECs are way above average and should give you a boost - though I’m not sure it will be enough.

So basically, I think Yale is a reach school for you though certainly not out of the question.

Thanks for your honesty!

Also, do you think that publishing a novel is a “hook”?

you have a chance and it’s probably the essay that’ll be the tiebreaker for you now, so do well in it. :)

Okay, thank you.

Any other opinions?

Also, The 800 on the Lit Sat II is very impressive. I hear that is very hard to get. It should help your chances.
