Do I have a decent chance at making it into UMD? I am currently in a Magnet High School and the challenging classes there along with depression and loss of hope freshmen/sophomore years were a big role in why my GPA is a bit low because they led to me putting in minimal effort and getting a bunch of B’s. (honest reason). I have recovered from the hole I was in but now I don’t think I can get into UMD engineering directly since it has limited space but just into letters/sciences do I have a good chance? I plan to take SAT II tests in the fall and I honestly believe I can get 800’s on the Math II test and 750+ on the Chem one. UMD is the one school I really really really want to get in and I am motivated to working way harder than I did in highschool. I am 95% sure I am going to apply as early decision and there is very little chance I would choose another school over UMD.
Also I don’t think I can get into engineering directly at UMD as the program is very limited in how many students they take but I head you can transfer after 1-2 years from letters and sciences with a decent GPA? Is this true?
