Asian, middle-class, highly ranked public HS

SAT: 1530, 770 Math 760 Writing 27 Essay (planning on retaking)
PSAT: 1500 (in California), Index: 224
GPA: 3.97 UW (school doesn’t do ranking or weighted gpa)
SAT IIs: 800 Math II, 800 Physics

  []6 year varsity tennis player, ranked (top 150 in region), won several local tournaments (quit playing competitively now tho)
  []varsity debater, top 100 in nation, won ~30 awards since 7th grade, team captain for the event I do + head captain of debate
  []part of NJHS and Spanish Honor Society (4 and 2 years)
  []1st place + various other awards at several hackathons
  []coordinator at nonprofit that provides low income schools and school districts with websites to jumpstart journalism projects
  [] Manage a website for large national nonprofit
  []competed in FRC and FTC robotics: qualified to regionals for both

What kinds of universities should I be looking at?

Find matches. For you, I’d say UCLA and Cal are solid. You can throw UCSD or UCSB into the mix if you insist, but just do your research. For match schools, make sure your stats are solidly within the middle 50%, and that you can afford them and wouldn’t mind attending.
Next have some safeties. Again make sure you can afford them and wouldn’t really mind attending. CSUs, lower UCs… With your stats, lots of schools would be safety-level.
Finally, have a couple of dream schools but don’t focus your attention solely on those schools. With your stats, all schools from generic-no-name-state-school to HPY are within reach.
