Chance Me? Scared+Confused!

<p>Hi, new user to CC. I'm also done with junior year and I am the typical low GPA high sat student. After reading over threads in CC, I'm hearing different things so I want to see where I stand a chance?
GPA: 3.47 UW 4.02 W
Frosh Year: 3.67 3.88
Soph Year: 3.42 3.88
Junior Year: 3.47 4.3ish (mostly A-s but being killed by a C in Multivariable)
Rank: Probably 30-40%ish (school doesn't rank just an educated guess)
SAT: 2400
PSAT: 226 (I'm not really sure how the whole "finalist" thing works so it would be greatly appreciated if someone could explain it too! haha)
Subject Tests: 800 Math II, 800 Physics, 800 Chemistry
Courseload: 8 APs, Multivariable
AP Exams: I haven't taken a couple of these tests yet but judging by practice tests these are the scores I am likely to get
Calc BC (5), Chem (5), Macro (5), Micro (5), Euro (5), APUSH (4), Calc AB (3 lol probably not reporting!)
Extracurriculars:
VP FBLA (3 years)
2x state event finalist 1x national top 10 FBLA

Webmaster Envir. Club (11)
Started charity to help underprivliged children in Kenya over $6,000 raised

Will be entering Siemens have a great project but I doubt I'll get semifinalist or whatever because it's so competitive!
Web Development Firm: About $20,000 earned annually
I code really well: not sure if I can put this on apps, i really doubt it though (like I said really clueless!)

Winner of couple of business plan awards for the tech startup
Summer Stuff:
Intern at BlackRock (already confirmed)

Teacher Recs:
One will be really great, one will be average
My Counseler and I are tight so that'll be good
Race: Asian
Income: 200,000+
State: New York
Large Public HS
Essays: I'm going to put my heart and soul into them.
Summary: My low grades are mostly due to my lack of organization. I really didn't do that well sophomore and first part of junior so I'm really concerned about that, not really too hopeful about college now! But I've really turned it around last part of junior year and I think I can pull off a good first part of senior)</p>

<p>Applying:
NYU Stern
Carnegie Tepper
Georgetown McDeough (def. botched that spelling!)
Berkeley (Econ!)
Urbana-Champaign (Comp. Sci)
Michigan (For anything!)
UPENn CAS (just for kicks lol!)
Washington-Saint Louis
UChicago
Bunch of safeties I'm sure I'll get into based on like similar kids</p>

<p>Thanks, and I'll try my best to "chance back"</p>

<p>A 2400 SAT with a slightly below-average GPA definitely puts you in the ball park of most of your schools. The extracurriculars should definitely help tho. You shouldn’t e stressed either-not with your 2400…</p>

<p><a href=“http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1500936-chance-me.html[/url]”>http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1500936-chance-me.html&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

<p>Berkeley Haas: Match
CMU Tepper: High match
NYU Stern: Match
Georgetown McDonough: Reach
UIUC: Low match/Match
UMI: Match
UPenn: Reach
WUSTL: High match
U Chicago: Reach (can you write stellar essays?)</p>

<p>Rather hard to say… I had a low GPA and a highish SAT (though not as high as yours) and was rejected to or waitlisted at every top school I applied to (but given a nearly-full scholarahip to a state school, so whatever)… But like I said, your SAT’s higher than mine, and your ECs are way better… </p>

<p>You probably have a decent shot at most top schools, though.</p>

<p>You sound really good to me, I wouldn’t be worried that much…I think if you pull up your grades for Senior yr, you’d be good. Your GPA isn’t that bad, could be better but your amazing SAT makes up for that</p>

<p>Thanks a lot for the replies guys! Could someone please clarify the match/reach system? Also, I forgot to mention that I’m an eagle scout but I don’t think it makes much of a difference lol</p>

<p>UChicago and UPenn definitely are the hardest on your list; your GPA just kills you for these 2.</p>

<p>bump for any more opinions?</p>

<p>NYU Stern-Match
Carnegie Tepper-Match
Georgetown-Low reach (your amazing SATs and stellar ECs will likely make up for GPA)
Berkeley-High Match
Urbana-Champaign-Low match
Michigan-Really does depend on the program… But probably Match
UPenn-Reach
Washington-Saint Louis-High match
UChicago-Reach</p>

<p>It’s just your GPA holding you back in a few of those higher tier schools, if your essays are spectacular then I think you will be more than O.K.</p>

<p>bump again?</p>

<p>bump 10char</p>

<p>Very hard to chance due to the low GPA and high SAT score. The uw GPA at 3.47 is far below the average for these schools (~3.8). While SAT 2400 is also far above average. The nice thing is you did take enough AP by junior that may partly explain the low GPA. I guess that may put you between match and low reach for these schools. I also think you will have a very high chance for UIUC (match) and perhaps UMich (high match).</p>
