Chance me Transfer Winter 2020 Admissions CoE

Hello, guys

I am OOS sophomore student (New York) who goes to SUNY Stony Brook who had already applied for transfer admissions with UMich for Winter 2020 for Mechanical Engineering. Here are my stats and please feel free to critique my chances into getting in

College GPA: 3.48 (overall) 3.75 (major)

ACT:31 (composite), 34 (Math), 29 (Reading), 26 (English)

Essay: (Why UMich?) 8/10 - wrote about how I had a passion for automobiles when I was 14 and how I learned the trade of Automotive Technology throughout my high school and how I wish to delve more into the industry and research that UMich does. Got it finetuned by the writing center and I could say that I’ve put my point across

Recs: -Only 1, but was from an industry profession with whom I’ve recently interned at his company (9/10)

Relevant Courses: Statics, Dynamics, Engineering Programming (MATLAB), Intro to
Fluid Mechanics (in progress), Intro to Machine Design (in progress), with core math/science classes and what not

HS GPA: 95.54%/100% (Weighted) (ranked 10/477)

AP Courses: AP Calc AB/BC (5), AP Language (4), AP Biology (3) (my school did not have much AP courses since scheduling was based on the shop classes we had)
***Also a note, I took shop courses with a concentration in Automotive Technology and graduated with a certificate

ECs:
College: BAJA SAE in various subsystems
High School: Science Honor Society (executive assistant)
Pit Crew Club (mechanic) - mostly worked on vintage cars and had a restoration project with fellow members to build a refurbished Chevy S10

Internships: Did one last summer with a Fortune 500 engineering company, also worked as a mechanic at a dealership during a HS summer

I think you have a solid shot. I think having some related ECs and internship experiences might be a plus. The only thing that might be concerning is your GPA - transfer students tend to have a 3.5+ GPA (overall, not just major) and is very competitive. However, if you had a good essay (I think your topic is pretty good) + good rec, I wouldn’t worry too much about it

Thanks for your input! Would you think that my internships/ECs might compensate for my sub-par GPA for CoE?

This is what you need to transfer.
