Match. you’re in state right? you’ve got a good shot

Actually, I’m a Minnesota resident. Although I am not in-state, they have plenty of NC applicants (34% increase). My region, midwest (MN, WI, etc) is underrepresented as 8% of the student body. Maybe that will help me out. Thanks for your answer!

Bump 10char

Your stats look decent but I would say it’s a low reach just because there are no guarantees for anyone, even with perfect stats. Good luck. :)

The first generation college student will help a lot as well. My parents are also both immigrants from the Ukraine, and detailing their struggles can really help an admissions officer understand the sacrifices families tend to make, (so my counselor said when I was finishing my application last month.) Based on that and all your other stats, especially considering the average stats of those accepted, you seem to be a good shot. Though again, like OhioMom stated, nothing is guaranteed!

Good luck!

How is it possible to have so many A’s? Are most high schools this inflated, or is mine just really deflated? Getting an A+ at my school in a class like AP Chem or AP Bio is pretty much impossible.

Not if you sleep 4-5 hours a night because your up late studying.

I think it is very hard for you to compare if a school is overinflated or not without attending it personally. It’s definitely not impossible to get so many A’s; at the same time, I think Duke will take your school’s performance and rigor as a whole into account.

On a side note, 4 to 5 hours sounds heavenly. <3

hockey, it absolutely is possible to get virtually all A’s. It’s just that different schools and even different teachers have such discrepancies in grading that it’s hard to compare grades. But if your school is poor and education is not good, then those A’s don’t mean as much even if you are a good student.

The education is far from poor. It’s challenging and I really enjoy it. There are, I admit, some differences in the class grading. For example, at my school the AP Lit. class is ridiculous. The highest grade in Lit. for all the seniors here is a 93. My teacher grades strictly with the AP rubric and few people do well. AP Chem and AP Bio–I’ve lost a good amount of sleep for those. In the first two weeks of AP Bio, I read 11 chapters (~300 pages) of Campbell’s, twice, and then took a test on all of that. Each of our tests is has a multiple choice section and 2 free responses. I did particularly well in them because I studied the curriculum over the summer so I would be in a good academic position for the course load I’ve selected. Nevertheless, I did find those classes challenging, especially the tests. Obviously, the difficulty of the classes for 9th grade was not the same as 11th and 12th due to the simple nature of the material.

Getting A’s here, and at many schools, is not impossible if you are willing to exert yourself or spend a few weekends working on papers, etc.

Your grades are definitely stellar, but your SATs might hold you back. Wait, you go to a small board school in NC? What’s it called? So, you go to school in NC, but you’re applying from MN?

Has anyone heard from Trinity College about the Financial Aid? ED applicant only.

You will not find out about financial aid until decisions are out. :)

Actually the Financial Aid office said that Admissions department will be emailing us our Student IDs and PIN numbers to track the Financial Aid status, so I was wondering if anyone got those.

When did you get that email? Was it awhile ago or recently?

I just got it.

Was it just a generated email or did you ask financial aid a question about it and they responded back to you?

It just shows what documents have been received.
What’s your daughter’s SAT score?

What did it say exactly? Do you have documents missing? Did you just get it today?
