I am a high school senior
GPA: 4.27 grades 9-12, 4.39 grades 10-12 ranked 11/279
I have a solid amount of EC's:
Track and Field junior and senior years
Volunteer at homeless and animal shelters once a week
President of Teens Against Drunk Driving at my school
Mock Trial junior and senior years
Red Cross Club Member (I don't know if that really matters)
I took a volunteer/missions trip to Africa summer of my sophomore year for a month

I have had a lot of personal challenges that I have overcome, which will probably help me
SAT Scores:
Reading: 640
Math: 690
Writing: 650
I'm kinda worried that my SAT scores might be a little low...
What do you guys think, do I have a good chance of getting in to these places? Be honest
Chance me and i'll chance back!!!!

Tufts—You are overqualified for Tufts, they reject people that are too high because they don’t want to be viewed as a safety. Tufts is a wonderful school, though.
UNC-chapel hill–high reach
UVA-match
Boston College-low reach

Tufts: match
UNC-chapel hill: Um… can I have your state of residence? In state: Definite yes, Out State: Reach
UVA:Match
Boston College:Low Reach
Chance me back,

Thread is titled “Chance a Chinese International Applicant”

I’m from California, so I know I’m going to have a hard time getting into UNC since they don’t accept very many out of state students. But hopefully I will be one of the people they do accept!
Could you guys also chance me for U of Michigan, Cornell, UCLA and Occidental??
PLEASE!!!

U of Michigan–what is your unweighted GPA?
Cornell–high reach (for everybody)
UCLA–random, based on how many in-staters go, can’t chance you
Occidental–safety

Agree with UVAorBust…Both UVA and UNC have around a 22% acceptance rate for OOS applicants; hence, they’re both reaches. UNC has a smaller % if OOS students; however, I believe UVA’s OOS applicant pool is slightly larger, hence the reason for the comparable OOS admission rates. Your SAT scores are going to be your biggest obstacle for all of the schools on your list. Personal challenges can be explained in your essays; it could make a difference, but then again, it might not. You DEFINITELY need to add more matches/safeties though. Good luck!

UNC-Chapel Hill will probably be a reach if you’re OOS - they reserve 82% of slots for NC residents if you didn’t. I think UVA is pretty big on in-staters too, but seemingly less so. I think that’d be the only reason it’d be a high reach (assuming your oos). I think BC is a match, probably the same goes for Tufts - but I do know it has a better reputation than BC where I life (just north of boston). Hope that helps!
Chance me back pleaseeee. I have some similar schools to you.
It’s called “OOS chances for UNC Chapel Hill, UVA, W&M, plus Tulane, McGill, St. Andrews”
Thanks!
