Chance me- University of Michigan LSA

Hi everyone! I’m anxiously awaiting my UofM decision and I was curious to see how you all would think of my chances of acceptance. I have a 29 ACT, 1290 SAT (with perfect essay scores), I’ve taken 10 AP Classes (4 this year), and I have scored four 5’s, one 4, and one 3. I am the Drum Major of my school’s marching band, Student Council VP, Mock Trial Captain, and the Drama Club Backstage Manager. I am also involved in 4H (for the past 10 years), and I am a State Champion in Equestrian through 4H and my school’s team. I have done National Honors Society and multiple Equestrian show curcuits, one of which I serve as the Secretary for the Youth Board.

I have applied to the LSA, majoring in Political Science. Additionally, I have applied to the Residential College, as I like the idea of a smaller-college feel. The University of Michigan has been my top choice school throughout high school and I hope to get in!

I also have a 4.0 GPA, unweighted

@liventhedream - your stats are good except for ACT. Also depends on whether you are instate or OOS, URM or not, hook or not, etc. Good luck.

Thank you! I am also an Instate Student

Reject.

Jk. Based on The fact that you’re instate and you have phenomenal extracurriculars+GPA, I would predict an accept

Your GPA and high class rigor will be weighted above your ACT. Hopefully you applied EA! If you are deferred, I would sign up for the Feb 11 ACT and try to add a point or two.

I did apply EA! Thanks for the tip

I’m gonna guess your chances are about 75% if you were out of state, I’d put them at 25%, but instate gives you a terrific advantage.

Your GPA is perfect. Your extracurriculars are awesome.

But your test scores are a little weak.

That said, a 29 doesn’t sink you for LSA. And scoring mostly 5s on your APs shows you’ve got college level grit. (you will NEED it at UMich)

Take the ACT again and try to bump it two points. If you get deferred, it might be just the thing to move you up the list.

But yeah, I think you’ll likely get good news in a couple weeks. Let us know!

Thanks!

Bumping this thread up!

@liventhedream Confirmation bias. You’re not going to get other opinions. Plus we have a week left, nothing between now and then can change the outcome.
