You’ll be fine. You have a stellar resumee, just work on SAT. Practice, practice, practice! That’s the only thing that is holding you back if anything.
I do know some students with your stats that did not get in so make sure you spend a good amount of time on the essays (there are 7). They really do make a difference.
I’d say you definitely have a chance of getting in. I know several people from my school who are in the honors college and they had way lower stats than you. However, to really be sure that you get in, make sure to write a good essay and improve your SAT score. Good luck!
Don’t know the acceptance rate but from the SCHC website: The mid-range of scores–25-75% of all scores–for the 2013 freshman class was between 1390 and 1470 (CR and M). Average weighted GPA was 4.65. Note that they recalculate your GPA using their own formula.
We were told at info sessions earlier this year that stats of incoming classes get higher each year. Look back at some of the HC acceptance threads from prior years to get an idea of the stats of those who are admitted vs. denied.
What’s your 2000 breakdown (as it appears Writing is not considered?)
The essays appear to be very important in deciding among candidates. Your volunteer hours and ECs will be useful in terms of answering questions about leadership, personal achievement, and community service. I recommend starting on them early (during the summer, if they’re available by then) as they are time-consuming and you will want them to reflect the whole variety of reasons (academics, athletics, service, etc.) that the HC should accept you.
