NoVa applicants for UVa face steep competition: Va has regional quotas and NoVa has a disproportionate number of high achievers. UVa stops first at TJ, then makes the rounds of the very strong public and private schools in the region.
“Quotas” have been repeatedly and adamantly denied by admission officers. But, it really looks like there is such quotas to the peeps here at NoVA. All the TJ kids laughing at us 
Heard the Dean of Admissions specifically talk about regional distribution. It is not a hard and fast exact number (that’s how they can deny quotas) but there are % ranges.
