My father, in conjunction with my uncle, sold drugs when I was younger in order to help pay for household bills, and to put forth money towards my college education. I am surrounded my students at my school who actively partake in the usage of drugs. As a result of these experiences, I along with many friends decided to form my high school's chapter of Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD). I am currently the Vice President.

I am a Questbridge Finalist, and have ranked Vanderbilt University as number one on my list of colleges I have interest in attending. I will be receiving the results of my match on December 2nd. Would anyone mind chancing me? What is the likelihood of me getting into Vanderbilt?

Thank you for your time, patience, and assistance.

If you write great essays I think you’ll get in…the only thing holding you back is your SAT. (I’m assuming you won’t send in the 2 and 3 AP tests). Chances are definitely above average, but don’t expect acceptance. Keep your eyes open to other schools– remember, Vanderbilt has a ~10 % acceptance

Does the fact that I’m a minority applicant, and male nonetheless, improve my chances? I’ve heard that Vanderbilt is a strong recruiter of minorities.

Vanderbilt: Low Reach-Reach

It helps, but it doesn’t make up for an 1850. It would make up for a 2050.
