Chance Me w/ New College List [CA resident, 4.0, 1570, Full Pay, business or economics]

OP- you really, really, really need to sit down with a course catalog before you go any further with your lists.

Econ is not Business. Business is not Econ. Four years is a very long time to be slogging through Econometrics and writing papers on the monetary systems in India vs. Brazil or doing complex problem-sets on the relationship of the Yen to the Euro.

I realize that kids change majors all the time- and I predict that you will too- but if you don’t want to major in business, do not tie yourself up in knots applying to business programs. That’s a waste of time. And the reverse is true.

Wrong thread. Post deleted.

THIS is why it’s a bad idea to choose your schools by USNWR rankings. Too many students/families use “best college” rankings as a shortcut to actually doing the research.

@rrhawks if you wouldn’t use ChatGPT to write your term papers, you shouldn’t use “best college” rankings to determine which universities to apply to. Nothing beats doing real research to discern which universities are a true fit for you.

Just as a co-op system turned out to be something you found “sucks”, there are other qualities of other universities you might not like. Simply being listed in a magazine/online ranking does not determine if a college is one you should attend.

Please do more research and homework so you don’t end up on a campus you hate.

Great thank you so much! Would I have to apply for that seperately or is it on the common app?

Okay, thanks for the help. I’m interested in both though and I understand that they’re not the same however I am passionate about both and would not be annoyed studying one over the other or vice versa if I get into a college that fits me.

I didnt choose schools from USNWR rankings for this lol, I just got a recommendation about the business school and looked into it as a possibility to add onto my list. I was unfamiliar with the co-op program and did a bit of research which is why I thought it was intriguing at first but now I know it probably isn’t for me after seeing what DadofJerseyGirl had to say. For the colleges I had on my past list and are also on this list, I have already done extensive research and wouldn’t “hate” going to any of those schools. Also, if I was picking by USNWR rankings why would I single out northeastern of all schools? Why wouldn’t I just add something like Notre Dame or WashU with higher rankings and higher business school rankings? I chose Northeastern because I got recommended, have family close by and am overall interested in the area.

Fordham will consider you for the full tuition and full ride scholarships automatically. Make sure you list that you are a NMSF on the common app application. And if Fordham (actually ANY school) offers an “optional” essay, make sure you do it. Optional essays are often “Why This School” themed. You don’t have to be profound. They can be short-- Rigorous Jesuit liberal arts education combined with excellent business program, located in New York with all its opportunities, alongside peers from all over the world etc.
