-UCLA
-UNC
-UT
-Rice (I know this is a high reach but why not. I really like the school and I hope I have at least some chance of getting in. That being said, don’t be afraid to tell me I have no chance)
GPA: My school doesn’t go based on the 4.0 scale; it’s out of 100. But right now it’s 95 unweighted and 100.3 weighted. After this year, I expect my unweighted to maybe go up a point but since I added another AP I think my weighted will increase a little more.
Classes:
Freshman year - honors except science (no APs were available freshmen year)
sophomore year - all honors except science again, but with AP Psychology
junior year - regular science and math, AP English and US History
Senior year - regular math with AP Physics, AP Gov, AP Macro, and AP Language & Literature
I don’t know if this adds anything but junior year and senior year I’ll be / was in honors Spanish but also taking ASL so yay for double languages
Tests:
SAT: I did really bad so I’m not submitting it
ACT: 32, but I hope to raise it. I might not though so we’ll just say 32
AP Psych: 4
other AP’s didn’t come out yet, but from my understanding they don’t really matter for admission and more for credits
Extracurriculars:
•JV volleyball (9th grade)
•JV basketball (9th grade)
•Varsity lacrosse (9th & 12th grade, yes I skipped 10 and 11)
•Varsity volleyball (10-12) 10th grade I got all class, 11th all conference. I hope to get all county next year.
•Varsity basketball (10-12)
•School of rock. It’s where you are put in a band and you have 3 hour rehearsal every week for a show you put on at the end. I will have been doing it from March to August, just this year.
•Guitar lessons for an hour a week since August 2014, then at school of rock I take another lesson another day a week for 45 minutes. So per week it’s an hour and 45 minutes.
•voice lessons for half an hour, just started in March going until August, once a week
•I don’t really know if this counts but I’ve done 2 volleyball camps over the summer
•This summer I’m doing an internship at NeuLion. It’s not an official internship program or anything but I’m going in to help around the office and stuff like that. I will probably be working more in the video production area.
Clubs:
•NHS (11-12)
•WLHS (11-12)
•Freshmen orientation (12)
I know I’m lacking in clubs, but it’s a little late to change that
Service:
•Canstruction
•I was on a committee to organize a color run at the JCC
•I went on a community service trip to Alaska, Seattle, and Hawaii where I got 45 hours
•10 hours from NHS
Hooks:
I have an extremely unique family story. I was adopted from China and so was my sister, but from a different family. Our parents are caucasian, but they got divorced. I live with my dad who remarried someone with 2 kids of her own who are of mixed ethnicity. Then my step mom and dad had a kid. So our family is 2 caucasian parents, 2 mixed kids, 2 asian kids, and 1 caucasian kid. I’m also Jewish.
As for my intended major, I’m undecided. Some things I have been considering though are something in physics, multimedia, or political science. I know physics is math heavy, which isn’t my strongest suit, but I am interested in it. I’m in regular physics now and I’m doing well and I like it, granted it is only a regular class.
