You have a 4.0 but is this after a year? President of Student Government/honors society/philanthropy club can be great but if you guys have done nothing it doesn’t matter. If your work experience involves McDonalds and Uniiqlo again nothing.

If your classes are mid-range and your ECs are decent. I would say you are in for USC, SMU, Cornell, UPenn. Berkeley can’t discriminate based on race so I would say you have 50% chance there. Brown won’t probably take you since they are need aware and yale/stanford/harvard all accept <4%.

It is really redeeming that you are a URM 1st gen w/ low income, it definitely boosts your chances a lot.

I’m intentionally being vague since it’ll be obvious who I am, but whatevs. I have a 4.0 with 60 credit hours completed. The classes I’ve taken are directly the prereqs for Cornell.

With Student Government I’ve presided over it when we raised a few thousand bucks for some charities. We’ve also done some things on the regional level.

With the Philanthropy club we’ve raised about $1000 so far. It’ll probably be around $2000 by the time my applications are finished. In addition we have reached nearly 500 people with our philanthropy seminars (inviting non profits to talk about the importance of donating, etc)

Finally, with the honor society what we do is directly related to the international topic for that year.

As for the jobs, I work for a top educational company and a top retailer. About ~35hrs a week combined.

HS GPA will kill you and your SAT is just above average. Since you are a sophomore transfer, you may earn more emphasis on your college stuff, but note that the AO “takes into consideration of all your application credentials”.

Your college stats are better. But a GPA 4.0, in this sea of 4.0, is completely different from schools to schools. A 4.0 in CC is very different from that in a top 20. Its difficult to chance you without your course rigor too. Say, if you are a math major but you take cal 1 even in sophomore year, your chance will be slim

ECs are great, but need specifications.

For the first line of your school list–you are in except for Chicago since sometimes their criteria is very strange (I saw many people with perfect stats and get rejections)
For the second line, you know the rate for Harvard Stanford, Yale, Brown and Penn. Your stats may worth a long shot. Work diligently on your essays may help your chance

Err, I’m applying as a junior transfer. As for course rigor, I’ve been taking Cornell ILR/UPenn A&S prereqs (which I already have completed with 60hrs). You’re right about the reaches. But you might as well apply since its a crapshoot anyway, heh.

Accepted: Amherst, Vanderbilt, SMU, UTA, USC, Columbia (GS), Berkeley, UNC-CH
Waitlisted (then denied): Harvard, Yale, Penn
Denied: Cornell, Brown
Withdrew app: UChicago, Stanford (in retrospect this was dumb haha)
