I want to get into CLA
My GPA-3.72 unweighed
Rank - Top 20%
ACT- 23 :(
A bunch of honors since freshman year and 6 AP
My school is competitive
EC- NHS, Spanish NHS, random clubs, debate, volunteer at fairview and a leader in a few clubs, active band member
*Minority and first generation if they take that into consideration

I don’t know how much leeway is given to minorities and first-generation students but otherwise I think you would be fairly unlikely to admitted to CLA given that only like 8% of CLA admitted students had an ACT less than 24 and your class rank is only average. Obviously if the University of Minnesota practices significant affirmative action in admissions you have a much, much better chance.

Hmm, I don’t know about that ^, I think you definitely have a good chance. I have a similar class rank as you, also in NHS and about the same amount of extracurriculars, similar GPA and only 5 APs. I got in but it took them a while to make a decision. Maybe take the SAT and see if you do better than the ACT?
But, isn’t it too late to apply? Either way, good luck!

Oh, and @UMTYMP student, how is 20% class rank “average?” It’s in the top 20 percent…50% is average.

20% class rank is average [slightly below average more accurately] for admitted students to CLA. [Academic Profile](Academic Profile of Fall 2022 Admitted Freshman Applicants by College | Office of Admissions) The more important point is that a 20% class rank would probably not help or hurt the OP’s application much. Certainly if the OP had a better SAT/ACT score they would have a good chance. But according to the above link last year only 8% of CLA admitted students had a ACT below 24.

EDIT Nevermind, saw your other thread.

Ehhh 50/50. CLA average ACT is a 28… if it helps you put a better perspective. My friend got in with a 25 and a 3.6.

Although people are still chancing the OP, the OP posted in another thread that they were accepted to CEHD but not to CLA.
