Chance Me

I have applied to the School of Education and Human Development as my first choice and the school of liberal arts as my second.

Here are my stats:

ACT:
Composite 25
Eng: 24
Math:24
Reading: 26
Science: 26

Writing: 9

GPA: 3.307

Activities: Numerous leadership roles, volunteering, community events, varsity sports, etc.

Now here is where I am concerned. I go to a prep school that does not have AP classes and very few honors classes. All the classes are considered to be accelerated. Additionally, we do not have a class rank. Will my low GPA and lack of class rank negate my chance of being accepted? My ACT is very average. However, I feel it makes me competitive for the school of education.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!

Class rank won’t affect you negatively. They say that on their admissions page and my school doesn’t do class rank and it only took them 3 weeks. I don’t think a lack of APs or honors will be much of an issue. However, has your GPA been on an up trend or down trend. They like to see GPAs go up or stay consistent or GPA staying consistent while taking AP/enriched classes. If your GPA has overall gone up year to year they like to see that. If it has consistently declined than that shows that you’ve burned out. Just my thoughts and from what I’ve heard. Good luck!
