I am Indian(so thats international) and i am applying for college of engineering with a intent of doing electrical and computer engineering, also, i am currently doing IB and have a predicted of 32(most probably getting bumped up to 35 in the next report sent to college) that is 5 in Math HL, 5 in Eco HL,5 in Physics HL,5 in English SL,5 in French AB SL and 6 in Chemestry SL.Also, i have a 30 in ACT with 28 in Reading,29 in English,31 in Math and 32 in Science. My SAT subject scores were Math-740 and Phy-670
As far as Extra Circulars go, i have:
Played badminton at the national level
Basket ball for school
Co-founded an engineering club
Have IAYP(international award for young people) silver award
Do MUN
around 230 hours of social service other than CAS( a necessary service to get IB diploma)
and have paid work for 1 week at a company.
I will chance all who reply to me!!
I think you have a shot. What works in your favor is that you are an international student who will end up paying international fees for OSU. Your credentials seem reasonable enough to get in. Check for datasheet on OSU site for the program of your choice or their generic data fact sheet. That will give you an understanding of how you are trending. I am an in-state student so, your case is different than me…
@dreamed
ty
also, do u know if there is any way to convert IB to GPA?
Yes, with OSU desiring more out-of-state students, OP should have a very good chance. ACT of 30 (ACT Maths of 31) is right in the middle of engineering admit stats.
@BeastOfEarth - I would ask OSU directly. I am sure they have some calculator. Some schools in US do offer IB courses.
@osuprof
does my badminton at national level give me any kind of edge over the others??
also, does it make me in any way eligible for any kind of scholarship for sports??(but dont wanna go to college just for sports or something, my concentration is gonna be academics but will still continue playing!!)
@beastofearth
I don;t think there are badminton scholarships. Also, in a Big 10 school like Ohio State, anyone on sports scholarship has to be very intensively involved, because of the level of competition in the Big 10 conference. One can play at Intramural level, but that doesnt come with any $$s.
bump- any other views, havent heard back yet!!! applied in first week of december
