I’m currently a junior. I am a Chinese international student studying aboard in the United States. I speak mandarin fluently and had received Chinese writing awards and Chinese regional reading competition awards before high school.
I have a 4.18 weighted GPA and 3.93 unweighted GPA, and it’s going to be higher by the end of this year. One C and one B on the first semester of my freshman year (one of them is Honors English), but after that I have not yet received anything below an A and most of my grades are around and above 97. I took AP World in my sophomore year and received a 4, I am taking AP Bio, AP Bio lab and APUSH in junior year, and I am planning on taking AP lit, AP Physics, and AP Cal AB in my senior year. I am also self-studying for AP European History and AP Art History tests this year. I am also taking most of the honor classes that I can take, including Spanish II Honors and Spanish III Honors. I didn’t take Honors English courses in my sophomore year since I had such a bad experience with it in my freshman year, and I cannot take honors English my junior because of AP Bio lab and orchestra. My class rank is 19/198, roughly in the first 10th percentile.
My SAT score is super low (1890) since I have not studied at all before the test, but I am planning on raising it in the new SAT. My pSAT is 1330, which I have not prepared at all as well.
I am involved in Yearbook (10,11), STEM program with 90 hours of internship, Key Club (10,11) with about 200 hours this year, Mu Alpha Theta (11), High School Orchestra (9,10,11) and Model UN (11) with a commendation and a research award in LVMUN in my first year, helped organize the middle conference and I’m planning on running for an office this year. I founded the International Student Association club and was the president. I am also planning on getting into Spanish Honors Society, NHS, and Varsity Quiz next year.
I am volunteering at Las Vegas Natural Science History Museum and have translated the Museum map into Chinese. I am extremely interested in anthropology and archeology, and I can talk about histories and arts that people don’t really know for hours.
I really want to go to NYU (which I know is pretty risky), Boston University, and perhaps a major UC school.
I am so stressed right now. Please give me some advice!!
