Your unweighted gpa is what UW will use. It does not matter that your school sends out weighted grades. I suspect they let you know the unweighted gpa so you know what colleges will use.

Your religion is irrelevant. Country of origin- India??? US citizen???

@wis75 US Citizen

That makes a difference- you are not applying as a foreign student. Also, Indian Asians are not an underrepresented minority for UW (being Vietnamese, Lao or Hmong would qualify). UW could look at your high ACT score and wonder about your relatively low gpa (remember, unweighted) although you are likely taking the most rigorous classes your HS offers. It would be helpful to you if your grades were improving and not falling with each semester. No guarantees. Be sure you have good study habits before attending any college.

@wis75 My grade progression went like this:

3.90 W/3.52 UW (9th)
3.60 W/3.23 UW (10th)
4.35 W/3.76 UW (11th)

I addressed how a lack of balance between extracurricular, academic, and social interests affected my grades in 10th grade, and also how I cleaned up my performance the next year.

The fact that your grades rebounded in 11th - and that you were aware of a problem and addressed it successfully - will help your application.

OOS admit rate has been 49% in the past - might be lower now due to being on the Common AP. Honestly the only hangup is your GPA which isn’t small but you’ve done what you needed to do on that. I’d put my money on you getting in. If you are deferred (strong possibility) don’t lose hope.

Good luck!

Good work on figuring out a balance. Shows how you have matured and likely will succeed in college- lesson learned in HS!
